Purpose:
To provide general patient care, including diagnosis, treatment and consultations to patients of all ages under the supervision of the department manager
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary healthcare provider performing physicals, ordering tests and prescribing medications
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical and chronically ill patients
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patients’ age-specific needs
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
- Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability including, but not limited to serving in the first assisting role
- Assists with the provision of surgical care, if necessary, in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations
- Monitors effectiveness of interventions
- Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals
- Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by preceding educational tools
- Authorizes treatments and educates patients and families on continued care

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- Current valid Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area, if applicable
- 1 year + experience working as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner
Preferred:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in the Nurse Practitioner role
