Join the dedicated, compassionate boutique Oncology team at Wilmington Health. Our team is seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse Practioner to provide outpatient compassionate care at our Oncology center in Wilmington. The center is located at 2421 Silver Stream Lane (near Novant Hospital).Patient care hours will be Monday-Friday 800a-500p. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the care and treatment of patients with oncology and hematology conditions.

Purpose:

To provide general patient care, including diagnosis, treatment and consultations to patients of all ages under the supervision of the department manager

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as a primary healthcare provider performing physicals, ordering tests and prescribing medications
  • Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical and chronically ill patients
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patients’ age-specific needs
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
  • Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability including, but not limited to serving in the first assisting role
  • Assists with the provision of surgical care, if necessary, in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations
  • Monitors effectiveness of interventions
  • Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals
  • Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by preceding educational tools
  • Authorizes treatments and educates patients and families on continued care

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Current valid Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area, if applicable
  • 1 year + experience working as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner

Preferred

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the Nurse Practitioner role
