About the Department
Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to supervise the inventory, ordering and delivery of parts, equipment, supplies and materials.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
• Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
• Assists in budget preparation and monitors and controls expenditures.
• Oversees inventory control and ordering system and prepares reports on operations.
• Gathers information from vendors, manufacturers, commercial warehouses and other sources to develop specifications on parts, equipment, supplies and materials.
• Prepares and submits bid specifications on parts, equipment, supplies and materials.
• Accesses the inventory computer system to determine stock levels and place orders.
• Prepares and maintains purchase requisitions for supplies and processes invoices for payment.
• Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
•High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
•Four (4) years of inventory control, stock clerk or supply clerk experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
•Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT)
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
•Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife.
Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors.
Traffic; Moving machinery.
Electrical shock; Heights.
