CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE
This exempt, supervisory job classification is responsible for performing, assigning, and evaluating all service and repair activities of landscape and construction equipment, related tools, and street-legal vehicles in a safe, timely, and cost-efficient manner; perform related work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Works under the direction of the Shop Manager;
· plans, directs, and organizes the activities of the shop staff by providing repair, maintenance, inspection, inventory, and assignment services related to landscape equipment (e.g., mowers, weed-eaters, hedge trimmers), construction equipment (e.g., trenchers, skid steers, stake pounders), related tools (e.g., pruners, saws, loppers), and vehicles;
· conducts mechanical diagnostics, equipment repair, and safety inspections of various systems including brakes, suspension, electrical and hydraulic, diesel, gas, 2-cycle and 4-cycle motors, as well as on-road and off-road equipment;
· uses hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments;
· observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble;
· maintains equipment, parts and supply inventory;
· anticipates needed equipment, parts and supplies and makes recommendations for replacement as part of the annual budget process;
· manages personnel and equipment to meet maintenance and operational needs;
· ensures all work meets company quality standards;
· tests mechanical devices to assess their performance;
· reviews equipment repair after unit has been completed, and reviews the work that was performed as well as the parts that were used and hours logged;
· performs routine quality control checks on vehicles and equipment before the items are returned to service;
· maintains service logs and records of maintenance for all equipment;
· attends weekly safety meetings;
· demonstrates professional understanding of chemicals, hazardous substances, and OSHA compliance;
· manages labor, materials, time, and customer expectations efficiently;
· ensures fleet availability to meet all requests by scheduling, forecasting and surveying current user trends;
· maintains knowledge and utilize all fleet information and user surveys to forecast new requirements;
· oversees routine and ad hoc maintenance;
· monitors and ensures fleet operation in compliance with local and state rules and regulations;
· maintains and monitors data management system to organize fleet as per various schedules and requests;
· develops and implements standard operational standards by advocating industry-wide best practices;
· ensures that all safety laws, policies, and practices are adhered to by fleet staff;
· manages personnel and equipment to meet maintenance and operational needs;
· complies with all policies, procedures, and performance goals;
· ensures that all safety laws, policies, and practices are met;
· completes DOT required inspection, and repairs, fills out reports and updates file upon completion;
· lists all concerns on a work order to ensure concerns are noted and addressed.
· utilizes computer skills, information technology, and MS Office applications effectively; and
· provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to shop personnel, work-site partners, and company staff in a courteous and efficient manner.

Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
An example of the preferred education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and competencies for this position includes: two (2) years of shop management experience, departmental planning and procedures, and key performance indicators demonstrating the qualifications identified above.

SPECIAL NOTES, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Pre-employment: Incumbents must sign the Confidentiality, Non-disclosure, and Non-solicitation Agreement prior to their first day on the job.
License: A valid class C driver’s license, which must be maintained throughout employment in this job classification, is required at the time of appointment. A valid DOT card, which must be maintained throughout employment in this job classification, is required within 30 days of hire. Ability to pass a background check to be allowed to enter federal properties is required.
Certifications: No certifications are required of this classification.
Language: Though not required, basic bilingual English and Spanish skills are desired of this classification.
Working Conditions: Work is predominately conducted in an in-door industrial environment exposed to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and noise levels; exposure to dust, pesticides, herbicides, grease, oils, fuels, dust, fumes, and electrical currents. Work is also conducted in an office environment with associated noise, space, and computer screen exposure.
Background Investigation: Incumbents must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency. Prior to appointment, candidates may be subject to a background investigation and/or drug test.
Introductory Period: Incumbents appointed to this job classification serve an introductory period of three months.

JOB DETAILS
- $55,000 base salary plus bonus potential.

- In person, Monday-Friday, approximately 6:30am-3pm with a 30-minute lunch break.
