Scope
The VP of Quality plays a strategic leadership role in shaping and coordinating quality assurance across the R&D organization and driving quality across the entire organization. This role ensures that quality standards, processes, and practices are consistently applied and continuously improved across teams and products. Acting as a key interface between R&D and other departments, especially Customer Support, the VP of Quality fosters cross-functional alignment and drives initiatives that enhance product reliability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
Job Description
Strategic Quality Leadership
- Define and evolve the R&D-wide quality strategy in alignment with company goals and technology roadmap
- Represent the Quality function in the R&D Steerco, contributing to strategic decisions and cross-departmental initiatives
- Act as a quality ambassador across EVS, promoting best practices and continuous improvement
Operational Oversight & Coordination
- Coordinate quality activities across R&D teams, ensuring consistent application of testing life cycle (TLC) practices, defect management, and release readiness
- Provide matrix leadership to QC Engineers, guiding their development and aligning their efforts with strategic priorities
- Monitor and report on quality KPIs, test coverage, and defect trends; recommend corrective actions and process improvements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Liaise with Customer Support to ensure feedback loops are in place for defect resolution and customer workflow validation
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Solution Managers, and Development Teams to embed quality early in the development lifecycle
- Interface with external stakeholders (partners, suppliers, customers) to ensure quality expectations are met and interoperability is maintained
Process & Methodology Development
- Lead the definition and optimization of quality standards, procedures, and tools across R&D and the wider organization
- Drive adoption of automation frameworks, continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD), and risk-based testing strategies
- Ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements where applicable
Leadership & Coaching
- Mentor senior QC Engineers and Lead QC Engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and technical excellence
- Promote knowledge sharing and technical visibility through internal feedback (e.g., Viva Engage, Arena presentations, R&D Conferences), and represent EVS through external thought leadership to promote a quality image.
- Support the CTO and R&D SteerCo members in strategic planning, budgeting, and talent development for the Quality function
Profile
- Proven experience in leading quality assurance in a complex, multi-product R&D environment
- Deep understanding of software testing methodologies, automation, and performance analysis
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across departments
- Experience in Agile environments and familiarity with Scrum, Kanban, and CI/CD practices
- Strategic mindset with hands-on ability to drive operational improvements
