A new employee will start on the night shift, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., on a continental schedule (alternating between 36 and 48 hours per week).
The starting hourly rate is $29.41, plus a night shift premium of $1.35.
Wage increases are offered after 6 months.

After 3 months of continuous service, employees become unionized and gain access to the following benefits:

  • Group dental and medical insurance: 90% paid by the employer.

  • Life insurance; accidental death and dismemberment; short- and long-term disability; and dependent coverage: 100% paid by the employee.

  • Work uniforms and safety equipment (glasses and shoes): paid by the employer.

Group RRSP: After one year of continuous service, the employer contributes up to 4% of the employee’s total salary, based on the employee’s contribution.

Job Description: Extrusion Apprentice

The Extrusion Apprentice will perform the following tasks while adhering to safety standards and Hood Packaging’s quality and food safety policies:

  • Transport resin from the warehouse to the extrusion equipment.

  • Fill the hopper with the appropriate resin based on the type of plastic roll to be produced.

  • Start, adjust, and optimize the extrusion lines according to production specifications.

  • Assist in quality control using measurement tools and verification tests.

  • Finalize the product and prepare it for shipment to the warehouse or the printing department.

  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to prevent any non-compliance affecting product quality.

  • Perform any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

  • Keep the work area clean, safe, and well-organized.

  • Strictly follow workplace health and safety rules.

  • Always respect Hood Packaging Corporation’s quality and food safety policies.
