Role Purpose: This an operational leadership role, accountable for directing, optimising and delivering all instore marketing activity for both B&Q and Tradepoint. If a piece of communication
is landing in our stores, this role is accountable for it. It owns permanent, semi-permanent and temporary customer messaging It brings together and is charged with leading
and coalescing previously disparate those teams so their output consistently hits world class levels, but is delivered with maximum efficiency

What we need::

Promotional POS - You’ll own and shape the promotional POS strategy for both B&Q and TradePoint — deciding what goes where, in what volume and format. You’ll also define the role of TradePoint-specific POS versus shared POS, using data and insight to guide decisions and challenge assumptions.

Range & Formats POS - This is about making signage work harder for the customer. You’ll define how navigational, category, and product signage supports the purchase journey — both at high and low levels. Using insight, you’ll assess what signage is helping customers, what’s not, and what needs to be added, optimised, or removed. You’ll ensure we’re led by what genuinely works for customers and drives revenue — not just adding more signage for the sake of it. You’ll also work with the ecommerce and app teams to align store and web journeys where it adds value. TradePoint signage will be part of this too, both in B&Q stores and standalone spaces.

POS & Signage Cost Control - You’ll be the guardian of our signage investment — especially for range changes and new stores. That means finding smarter ways to spend, and tightly managing the promo POS budget to deliver more impact for less.

Retail Media - You’ll partner with the Head of Retail Media and commercial leads to shape how in-store comms support B&Q’s retail media ambitions. It’s about balancing supplier engagement with enhancing the customer experience.

Brochures - You’ll define what brochure content customers need at each stage of their journey — helping them choose B&Q and spend more with us. You’ll assess where physical brochures are essential, where they enhance the experience, and where they add unnecessary cost. You’ll also shape the role of digital brochures — when they should complement or replace physical ones.

Team & Leadership - You’ll ensure consistently brilliant output across channels and teams, working closely with senior leaders across Commercial, Retail, Finance, and even at Board and Group level. You’ll build the activity plan and team to make it all happen, and play a key role in the Marketing Leadership Team — helping break down silos and support the wider team’s development.
