Where you’ll work:
Depending on the needs of your business area, we expect hub based people to be in the office at least once a week, and to go to OVO Connection events in-person.
You’ll be assigned to the closest one of our three hub offices, Bristol, Glasgow, or London; unless your role requires field-based work. Each hub has accessible spaces to park your laptop, is designed to inspire people, help them connect and bring big ideas to life.

We’re building secure, scalable cloud platforms that power OVO’s mission to deliver Plan Zero. This role in a nutshell:
This role ensures OVO’s platforms run smoothly, securely and at scale - providing the foundations our teams need to accelerate the transition to zero carbon.
Your key outcomes will be:
Stronger resilience: Cloud and platform services are stable, secure, and scale smoothly with business demand.
Greater automation: Reduce manual processes through Infrastructure-as-Code and tooling, improving efficiency and reliability.
Improved security posture: Cybersecurity controls are embedded, monitored, and regularly enhanced to minimise risk.
Faster delivery: Teams can release and operate services more quickly thanks to optimised platforms and automated pipelines.
Effective incident response: Platform issues are resolved quickly, with proactive problem management to prevent recurrence.
Mentorship impact: Helping junior engineers grow their skills through support and guidance, raising the overall capability of the team.
Within your first 6 month you’ll:
Onboard: Bring in new platforms and map out their ownership and lifecycle.
Stabilise and optimise: Review current platforms and implement resilience and performance improvements.
Embed automation practices: Deliver Infrastructure-as-Code templates for at least one core platform (e.g. logging/alerting or certificate management).
Strengthen security controls: Conduct a security gap analysis across platforms and implement at least one new control to reduce risk exposure.
Have strategic alignment: Influence and contribute to the team roadmap in line with OVO Tech strategy and Plan Zero objectives.
Example Platforms: : Cloudflare ZTNA, Go Anywhere MFT, Digicert, Aiven Kafka, Virtual Desktop, Github, Datadog, Cloud hosting, Terraform.

Show technical confidence across cloud and on-prem platforms, with the ability to dive deep into automation, networking, and infrastructure-as-code.
Consider end user experience and scalability in day to day operations
Are naturally security-minded, always considering risks, controls, and how to keep systems resilient.
Are comfortable with incident and problem management, staying calm under pressure and resolving issues quickly.
Are adaptable and open to change, ready to embrace new technologies and ways of working.

We’ll pay you between £53,750 to £60,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.
We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.
You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
