Position Overview:
  • Under general supervision, follows general instructions with discretion as to work details.
  • Develops complete major layout and engineering drawings of complicated components and assemblies such as schematics, interconnect lists, parts breakdown, printed circuit board layouts, wire lists, etc., from notes, rough sketches, or general instructions of engineers and designers.
  • Makes mathematical calculations as required.
  • Creates and modifies detailed drawings using CAD hardware and software from sketches, layouts or notes provided by engineering.
  • Contributes design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product.
  • Checks drawing plots versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standards.
  • Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECN/ECR documentation.
  • May work with system management including file maintenance, backup and storage.
  • May provide work leadership to lower level drafters.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent educational experience
  • Drafter designer with minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in mechanical designing. 
  • Demonstrated experience with Solidworks 3D modeling, Inventor, AutoCad, creating 2D assembly drawings, BOMs, and component drawings.
  • Ability to design and configure complex systems with limited guidance.  
  • Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadline.
  • Familiarity with power electronics equipment including switchgear, soft starters and VFDs preferred.
  • Demonstrated design experience with low voltage packaged solid state starters and VFDs preferred.

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience operating in an electronics manufacturing environment a plus 
  • Strong technical skills related to electrical engineering and power electronics
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening) and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group of professionals
  • Good time-management skills and ability to set priorities
  • Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork

Position Location: On-site, Benshaw, 615 Alpha Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15238 (Not eligible for relocation assistance)
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible office hours between 6am-6pm with manager approval)
