We are a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our educational team. This part-time position involves working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, providing them with the necessary support and resources to facilitate their learning and development. The ideal candidate will create an inclusive classroom environment, implement individualized education plans (IEPs), and collaborate with parents, specialists, and other educators to ensure the success of each student.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects and communication skills using appropriate methodologies for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Utilize assistive technology and resources to enhance learning experiences for students.
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes social interaction and communication among all students.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other educators to support students' educational and emotional needs.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in deaf education and special education.
- Advocate for the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing within the school community.
Requirements
- License: A valid North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) teaching license with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement.
