Basic Qualifications: 

• Prior Coaching Experience preferred 
• Ability to effectively communicate with all audiences 
• Evidence of strong leadership ability
• CPR certification & first aid training

Specific Competencies: 

• Is a positive role model
• Understanding of basketball rules and regulations
• Possesses a strong value system 
• Ability to work effectively with others: players, parents, teachers, administrators, patrons, and assistants 
• Is an effective organizer and planner 
• Demonstrates patience and understanding in stressful situations 

Performance Expectations: 

1. Adheres to the rules, regulations, and policies of the MHSAA and the Board of Education 
2. Promotes and practices positive sportsmanship 
3. Is prompt and accurate in submitting all required reports 
4. Works with other staff to assist athletes in maintaining eligibility 
5. Is responsible for the conduct and well-being of players and assigns proper supervision of players 
6. Supervises assistants and assigns duties to them 
7. Ensures that facilities and equipment are maintained properly, reports needs to the Athletic Director or Administration as needed
8. Always uses appropriate language; and is well-groomed, appropriately dressed and presents a good appearance.
