JOB SUMMARY

 The Job Developer I reports to the Program Director and will assist residents with employment development and services.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Actively collaborate with employers and vocational/educational programs in the Fresno area to create job opportunities for residents. Refer residents to appropriate employers, training and educational facilities, community agencies and other appropriate organizations.
  2. Provide individual and group training on job readiness, résumé preparation, interviewing skills, job searching, transitional skills, and other job/education related topics.
  3. Assess residents for education and employment readiness. Determine employment, training and Career Technical Education (CTE) needs.
  4. Develop individual employment plans (IEP) with residents.
  5. Assist residents with analyzing/evaluating employment opportunities, personal abilities/aptitudes, and provide information on occupational opportunities. Discuss job requirements, training, rehabilitation resources, and assist with formulating plans to achieve employment goals.
  6. Mentor residents in disclosing appropriate information regarding past convictions, and/or probation/parole status to potential employers.
  7. Document services to meet all program, county, and state requirements, noting significant intervention and progress toward job attainment within the Automated Reentry Management System (ARMS) or other electronic database as assigned.
  8. Assist residents with obtaining necessary documents to legally gain employment in the state of California (e.g., California ID, Social Security Card, etc.).
  9. Advise residents of the benefits of completing the criminal record expungement process.
  10. Provide information, or a referral, on how to expunge a criminal record, and obtain a Certificate of Rehabilitation.
  11. Provide the Program Director and/or Assistant Program Director with timely reports and updates including any key communications between community partners, vendors, residents.
  12. Communicate any unusual occurrences that may be relevant to program operations or the health and safety of residents/employees.
  13. Exercise sound judgement when providing resident services, priorities safety and respond quickly in an emergency or pressured situations to provide assistance and/or attempt to deescalate the situation.
  14. Will think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  15. Will drive on Agency business.
  16. Physical presence at the program is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or a related field: or a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Job Developer or similar position.
  2. Ability to learn and operate within the electronic Automated Reentry Management System (ARMS).
  3. Current certified training in emergency first aid procedures and CPR preferred.
  4. Intermediate computer skills in Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  5. Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required. 
  6. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  7. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and TB test.
