Summary/Function:
We are currently seeking an experienced and multifaceted Wealth Planning leader to provide strategic direction for the Wealth Planning department of the Advisor Solutions Team, serve as an advocate and evangelist of D.A. Davidson Companies Wealth Planning services, and provide financial and estate planning expertise in consultation with Financial Professionals and their clients as a senior planner. This role has the opportunity to evolve and grow the planning offering in the context of a corporate culture and belief that planning is at the core of an exceptional client experience. We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to lead and shape the future of planning at D.A. Davidson.
In this player-coach role, the Director of Wealth Planning is expected to be a subject matter expert on a broad range of financial and estate planning strategies, and be masterful in client engagement particularly in complex cases. The Director of Wealth Planning engages in priority consulting services which range meetings with Davidson Financial Professionals and their individual clients, to conducting client seminars, leading internal training sessions, and speaking in a variety of internal and external forums.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 10+ years of relative professional experience.
• Prior leadership experience required
• Experience as a Financial Professional preferred.
• Juris Doctor and CFP® strongly preferred
• Series 7 and 66 (or 7, 63, and 65) required within first 6 months of employment
• Life, Health, and Long-Term Care Insurance Licenses required within first 6 months of employment
• Expert knowledge of MoneyGuidePro and familiarity with other planning tools and technology
• Ability to analyze and simplify complicated wealth planning solutions to a variety of clientele
• Leadership capabilities to see projects and initiatives to completion and to carry out the mission of the department.
• Act as a key resource and contributor on cross-departmental projects.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and project management skills with the ability to collaborate across business divisions and teams.
• Flexibility to travel to branches in the Davidson footprint, sometimes with short notice.
• Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance.
• Intimate solid understanding of the Internal Revenue Code.
• Experience in developing estate plans for ultra-high net-worth clients.
Duties:
• Responsible for all general business activities and departmental leadership including development and implementation of short and long-range department objectives and strategies, and tracking to completion. Manages budget and controls expenses.
• Manages and executes customized client wealth planning analysis, recommendations, plan development, presentation, and execution in collaboration with Financial Professionals (FPs).
• Consults with clients and FPs on a variety of planning strategies including estate planning, equity-based compensation, asset protection, multi-generational wealth transfer, federal and state death tax minimization, tax advantaged philanthropic gifting, business succession, wealth replacement, gifting, key-person insurance, qualified plans, and non-qualified deferred compensation.
• Coordinates the design, development, implementation and assessment of all Wealth Planning programs and events.
• Oversees all aspects of Wealth Planning Group activities and initiatives focused on Financial Professionals, to ensure quality training, education, and the execution of a planning practice.
• Ensures department generates and delivers quality client-facing and advisor-facing educational materials.
• Keeps current with tax and estate planning solutions by reading relevant journals, going to meetings/seminars and attending relevant courses.
• Responsible for ensuring policies and procedures related to the planning process comply with all regulatory requirements, and are consistently executed by the Wealth Planning Group.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The potential base pay hiring range for this role is $175,000 – $250,000 annually.
