Summary of Primary Functions:
This position is responsible for a broad range of general accounting functions. This role will focus on monthly close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each assigned essential duty satisfactorily. (Below are examples, not all duties will be assigned to you, but other duties may be assigned).
- Produce/review monthly journal entries for various areas of responsibility
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items
- Perform financial analysis and prepare internal reports for management review
- Support preparation of financial statements and related disclosures
- Assist with internal and outside auditor requests
- Assist in audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries
- Support compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Assist in developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Contribute to special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned
Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related degree
- 2+ years’ experience in public or corporate accounting
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
- Understanding of internal controls and U.S. GAAP
- Ability to communicate effectively across functional teams and interpret a variety of instructions including written and oral
- Ability to analyze and efficiently utilize large amounts of information
- Self-starter with a desire for process improvement and learning
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including advanced excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Cell formatting, Conditional Formatting, etc.)
Education, Skill, and/or Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree within the Finance/Accounting field and 2+ years’ experience or equivalent experience.
- Organization and communication skills must be highly developed.
- Computer skills need to be broad based.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate accounting functions, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will need the following: The ability to sit for extended periods of time, ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and the ability to focus on a computer screen for extended periods of time.
