REPORTS TO: Credit Officer
The credit department is looking for an experienced individual to analyze the creditworthiness and credit risk of commercial borrowers, including a review of financial statements and cash flow analysis.
Who We Want:

- Analyze credit data and financial statements of individuals or businesses to identify the degree of risk involved in lending money or extending credit
- Ability to use technology and software to keep customer loan files, evaluate customer’s financial status, and produce financial ratios
- Prepare periodic reviews on existing loan relationships

- Responsible for determining risk ratings and developing terms of repayment for customers based on earnings, data, payment history, and purchase activity

What You'll Do:
- Review commercial loan applications, credit reports, and appraisals to determine borrower strengths, weaknesses, and creditworthiness
- Determine the expected profitability of loans by analyzing financial data including quality of management, income growth, and market shares
- Responsible for composing reports detailing the degree of risk involved in the loan or credit request and recommends approval or denial based on results
- Prepare detailed credit packages to be presented to approval committees
- Spread financial data in order to complete ratio, trend, and cash flow analysis and create projections
- Develop strong understanding of the bank’s loan policy with relation to guidelines for creditworthiness and underwriting standards
- Complete reviews of external appraisals as well as prepare internal evaluations for collateral
- Maintain updated credit files with appropriate documentation regarding credit decisions, which includes tracking and collecting updated financial information
- Conduct yearly reviews of larger loan relationships in accordance with loan policy
- Accompany loan officers on client visits to gather pertinent information for underwriting
- Represent the Bank at various civic and community functions

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis or underwriting in a related industry
- Foundational understanding of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements and how they are analyzed. Knowledge of tax returns preferred
- Ability to read and understand loan policy in order to complete underwriting procedures in accordance with policy standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Word and Excel
- Ability to learn internal banking systems, including core system and financial analysis software
- Excellent customer service skills for both external and internal customers
- Ability to problem solve and recommend solutions for loan presentations and decisioning
- Willingness to take on additional training and learning opportunities both individually and amongst fellow credit analysts
- Proven track record of analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
