About the Department
The City of Eustis is seeking a trustworthy, responsible individual who, under general supervision, performs responsible personnel work providing technical and administrative support to the city's Human Resources Department. The employee works with independence within the scope of established rules, regulations, and procedures.

Position Duties
- Interprets and explains administrative policy and decisions;
- Relieves the director of operational and administrative details;
- Posts and advertises open positions;
- Monitors receipt of applications and works with applicants and departments to resolve issues or problems;
- Schedules job interviews and administers and grades applicant tests;
- Performs background checks, including criminal histories, driving records, degree verification, employment checks, reference checks, etc.;
- Takes photos and prepares employee identification cards;
- Responds to verification of employment inquiries;
- Performs research, analyzes, and compiles data for various departmental reports and surveys;
- Establishes and maintains logs, files, and other records;
- Maintains application website and personnel databases;
- Processes personnel action forms;
- Coordinates post-accident and random drug testing program;
- Coordinates special events such as picnics, luncheons, recognition ceremonies, including scheduling caterers, preparing invitations, programs, decorating, etc.;
- Oversees Employee Fitness Center, ensuring employee paperwork is completed, assigning key codes, monitoring usage, inspecting facility and equipment, etc.
- Monitors budget spending, maintains departmental accounting records, and prepares requisitions and or requests for purchase orders;
- Composes and types correspondence and other forms and materials;
- Serves as secretary for the Safety Committee, transcribing minutes and maintaining records of meetings;
- Answers the phone, providing information and taking messages as required;
- Other related duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Thorough knowledge of business English, punctuation, mathematics, and spelling; knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; knowledge of the procedures and functions of governmental personnel work; knowledge of various computer software programs; knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures
Ability to compose effective and accurate correspondence, reports, etc.; ability to maintain files and keep accurate records; ability to assemble, analyze and organize data and prepare reports; ability to work well with others and assist the public cooperatively and courteously; ability to maintain files and records; ability to express oneself clearly in verbal and written form; ability to make minor decisions in accordance with departmental policy; ability to record and transcribe minutes of meetings; ability to maintain confidentiality
Skill to type at least 35 CWPM; skill in the operation of basic office equipment, including a computer.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School graduation or recognized equivalent and at least one year of college-level coursework; three years of responsible clerical experience, preferably Human Resources related. An associate's Degree from an accredited college is highly desirable.
Working Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Physical Demands:
This is primarily sedentary work. Requires sitting for long periods of time; bending and reaching; good finger/hand dexterity and hand/eye coordination; good eyesight, hearing, and speech.
Salary Information:
$19.8694 to $28.2688 per hour ($41,328.44 - $58,799.11 per year); EXCELLENT benefits (Note: See Benefits Tab for more information). Applicants should expect a starting salary of $19.8694 per hour. Only applicants with the most job-related qualifications will be selected for interview and further consideration. Additional consideration may be given to applicants with more extensive education, training, or experience. Final candidates will be subject to skills testing, including spelling, math, grammar, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, customer service, ten-key and typing (minimum 35 CWPM). Following a thorough background investigation including a criminal history and driver’s license check, the candidate will be given a conditional offer of employment.
