Position Overview:

The Hospitality Program Manager leads the programming and operations of The Gathering Place’s Hospitality Program, including the prepared foods program, food pantry, and clothing boutique. Leadership of this program requires promoting and maintaining a low barrier, trauma informed environment within the hospitality programs. The program manager leads and collaborates with Hospitality staff, volunteers, and other community partners to ensure low barrier access to high-quality and nutritious food and essential clothing items.? The program manager must operate with a broad understanding of the food and nutritional insecurities and essential needs of our community to deliver quality outcomes of the overall program.?

Core Accountabilities:

  • Use cultural humility and trauma-informed care when interacting with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners, including mindfulness and flexibility regarding food preferences, sensitivities, and needs.  
  • Maintain a physically and psychologically safe environment for members, staff, and volunteers. 
  • Lead inventory management for the hospitality program; lead and execute regular ordering processes in order to ensure kitchen supplies and ingredients remain fully stocked, while remaining within the establish program budget. 
  • Create and lead strong systems and protocols that are consistent with the objectives of TGP’s clothing boutique and food pantry programs
  • Create weekly menus reflecting a wide variety of cultural influences and dietary needs. Engage with and lead Hospitality staff, volunteers, and meal sponsors in the daily production and serving of high-quality meals, as well as needs related to the Boutique and Pantry as they arise. 
  • Complete all program documentation and data entry in a timely manner to meet organizational, legal, and contractual standards and reporting requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, health department regulations, and all federal/state/local laws. 
  • Provide supportive 1:1 supervision to all program staff that focuses on performance, growth, and progress. 
  • Work as a member of the program manager team to resolve issues across TGP programs, coordinate resources, and provide organizational leadership   
  • Coordinate scheduling of staff, volunteers, and community partners to promote effective and efficient program operations 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Able to bend, lift, push, pull, and hold/carry at least 15 lbs. 
  • Able to perform job duties in a variety of fluctuating temperatures. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
  • Current knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, food justice and food and nutritional insecurity. 
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with diverse populations.  
  • Current knowledge of, or willingness to learn, how to operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a copy machine or printer, and office software, such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other programs. 
  • Preferred: Minimum three years of experience in food service or in a food service/culinary training program. 
  • Preferred: Minimum of one year of experience in a supervisory role. 
  • Preferred: Knowledge of, or lived experience with, homelessness, poverty, women and trans issues, substance misuse.
