Join our Toyota Material Handling North America team as an Energy Solutions Electrical Engineering Technician!

The Role:

We’re seeking a passionate and dedicated Electrical Engineering Technician who brings creativity, problem-solving skills, and a hands-on approach to the table. In this role, you’ll contribute to the development of moderately complex electronic designs in the energy solutions space. You’ll be involved in designing and specifying electrical components, harnesses, and electronic assemblies - while also rolling up your sleeves for prototype builds and troubleshooting. We value innovative and creative ideas - yes, even during meetings (where snacks are always welcome). If you enjoy tackling challenges with positivity and a bit of humor, you’ll feel right at home here.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams - electrical, mechanical, software, and test engineers - to design electrical systems that meet application requirements.
  • Generate and maintain documentation for harnesses, components, and assemblies.
  • Partner with mechanical engineers on system-level design and integration.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues using lab equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, current probes, etc.).
  • Participate in prototype builds, troubleshooting, and documenting design challenges.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, maintainability, and compliance with environmental standards.
  • Support engineering analysis through simulations, design reviews, and performance verification.
  • Create and revise design layouts for parts, assemblies, and functional units.
  • Learn and develop CAD-based wire routing skills.
  • Lead or participate in design and documentation reviews to ensure quality and effective communication.
  • Investigate design problems and propose solutions.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 8+ years of engineering technician experience in harness design, fabrication, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of circuit fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment.
  • Hands-on aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with wire harness manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to solder and troubleshoot down to the component level.
  • Experience with - or willingness to learn - CAD tools such as CREO and Altium.
  • Ability to build prototypes from schematics or drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across cultures and disciplines.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and comfortable in a dynamic environment.
  • Detail-oriented with critical thinking skills and a positive, collaborative mindset.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of wire harness design, materials, and manufacturing.
  • Comfort working in an agile, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with initiative and ownership.
  • Experience with:
    • Electronic hardware design and troubleshooting at the component level.
    • CREO Schematic and Wiring Systems.
    • 3D modeling software (CREO, SolidWorks, or similar).
    • Altium Schematic Capture and PCB Design.
    • Modifying/building boards and cables from schematics or drawings.
    • Industrial or automotive product development.

Where and When You’ll Work:

  • This is an in-person role located at our Rochester, New York office—ideal for those who thrive in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.

What Your Total Compensation & Benefits Package will look like:
