Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that all plant equipment, machinery, and building systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role performs mechanical and electrical repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and support continuous plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform major and minor repairs to plant equipment to maintain productive and efficient operations.
- Proficiently use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment to complete maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems, including PLCs, sensors, and PID loops.
- Read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical schematics, prints, and technical drawings.
- Operate welding and cutting equipment, including arc welders and oxy-acetylene torches.
- Design, layout, and fabricate jigs and fixtures to support production operations.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery, equipment, and building systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team, including wearing required PPE and using a respirator during chemical cleanup.
- Install and maintain feeder and branch circuit wiring for single and three-phase systems.
- Layout and install rigid, EMT, and IMC conduit systems in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Apply knowledge of NEC requirements to ensure safe and compliant electrical work.
- Monitor and maintain plant service equipment, including HVAC systems, hot/chilled water circulation systems, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, feed water systems, water softeners, and air compressors.
Requirements
- Strong reading comprehension skills and ability to follow technical documentation.
- Ability to work safely with high voltages and around moving equipment.
- Physically able to lift up to 60 lbs., bend, twist, climb, crawl, and work at heights.
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
- High attention to detail and strong mathematical ability.
- Must pass post-offer drug screen and background check.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or Journeyman Card required.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a maintenance millwright and electrician.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
- Two-year technical degree in a related field preferred.
