Job Summary:

The Inspector will provide quality control and assurance throughout all phases of the production process beginning with raw materials and ending with the final product. This position will involve functions for incoming, set-up, in-process, and final assembly inspections at both Weber Knapp facilities.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

· None.


Duties/Responsibilities:

· Performs assigned, routine visual inspections and other specified tests on raw materials, goods in process, and finished products.

· Tests, inspects, and approves raw materials and purchased components based on established quality specifications.

· Uses observation and testing to identify faults in materials and manufacturing process.

· Uses statistical methods to test product samples to evaluate quality of full product batch prior to delivery to clients or customers.

· Consults with supervisor to determine appropriate recommendations and remedies for questionable products.

· Maintains quality records as , including maintaining data in Non-Conforming Material database.

· Interpretation of blueprint dimensional and functional requirements.

· Performs set-up approval and in-process/roaming inspections on jobs for all departments.

· Assists in calibration of measuring equipment.

· Assists in troubleshooting set-up and in-process quality issues. 

· Maintains communication and interaction with shift supervisors, department foreperson, inspection personnel, QC Manager, Manufacturing Engineering, and Product Design on critical dimensions, non-conforming material, and troubleshooting dimensional issues.

· Setup and run coordinate measuring machine and interpret dimensional results.

· Performs other functions relating to the quality assurance and inspection area as required.

· Performs other related duties as assigned. 


Requirements

 Required Skills/Abilities: 

· Thorough understanding of the product and/or process being inspected.

· Thorough attention to detail.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

· Ability to read blueprints. 

· Ability to read and interpret measurement devices, including but not limited to: calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.

· Familiarity with basic manufacturing processes such as metal stamping, metal forming, welding, and machining.

· Windows PC experience.

· Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.

· Ability to perform shop math.

· Ability to prioritize and multi-task.

· Ability to work independently.

· Willingness to learn new skills.

· Understanding of statistical principles for process control preferred.

· Familiarity with 2D/3D CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred.

· Experience with PC-DMIS and programming coordinate measuring machines preferred.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma, technical school education, or equivalent required; mathematics emphasis preferred.

· 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing setting

· Completion of related vocational certificate or associate program a plus 

Physical Requirements: 

· Must be able to lift 35 lbs.

· Must be able to traverse the production facility.

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
