Overview:  

Listerhill Credit Union is a financial cooperative whose primary purpose is to help our members live financially healthy lives. In 1952, seven Reynolds Metals employees deposited $5 each with the idea of starting a credit union that was member-owned and member-focused. Helping co-workers break from predatory lenders to borrow affordably and save for their financial futures, was their motivation. We have grown from a single office at Reynolds Metals to 16 branches throughout northwest Alabama and south-central Tennessee. Today, we serve 13 counties with a full line of financial solutions. Our purpose and commitment to financial health has never changed. We recognize what is good for our members is good for us. We aspire to high standards of integrity, excellence, and passion. Furthermore, we strive to be innovative for the members’ benefit and engaged in the betterment of their communities.


The Role:  

Your efforts and ultimate successes should be measurable and recognizable as you strive daily within LCU’s vision: “to value people over profit, proactively seek improvement, work passionately, exceed expectations, and make our community a better place”. As a Financial Wellness Intern, you will have an interest in promoting financial stability to others. You will also assist with various activities where Listerhill is represented.  


What you will do:

  • Attend campus events where Listerhill is represented
  • Assist with home football games during tailgating and the half-time show
  • Assist with SOAR
  • Reach out to students via phone and email.
  • Work directly with students in The Commons, setting up and promoting our programs, booking individual help session or group classes.
  • Gain a broad understanding of Listerhill products.
  • Help members at the Smart ATM on campus.
  • Work with the Director of Financial Wellness to evaluate existing programs and help improve them to serve students better
  • Listen to students needs and concerns and provide feedback on how we can serve them best.
  • Look for opportunities for Listerhill to provide classes, establish partnerships or otherwise serve the student body.
  • Establish mailing lists for event leads.
  • Assist with and attend financial health programs in high schools.
  • Maintain stock of literature and pull supplies for classes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must be an active student at UNA in the desired department field of Business Management, Marketing, Finance or Communications, others will be considered.
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be willing to work after normal business hours
  • Must be willing to travel when necessary
  • Must possess proficient communication skills
  • Commitment to LCU’s Mission Statement Core Values
  • Must successfully complete appropriate LCU assessments
