Summary:
Primarily responsible for reviewing sales orders and quotes to create drawings for AutoGate products. These drawings include the development of simple site layouts, detailed fabrication drawings and assembly drawings of AutoGate’s manufactured products as well as maintaining the supporting drawings and documents related to those items. Individuals in this position may also work from plant requests or other specifications. CAD Designers are capable of working independently but will be required to work as a part of a cross-functional team as needed. This position may include checking work of designers, drafters or engineers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Primarily produce 2D drawings using AutoCAD. 3D Inventor models may be required to be created at times.
- Works with Sales, customers, clients, and other designers to produce customer site drawings usually from sketches.
- Attends meetings (phone, video, in-person) with clients and stakeholders to discuss design concepts and modifications
- Creates and updates templates used for the creation of site and shop prints.
- Reviews job file to ensure complete information is obtained to produce production drawings, including verification of quote to drawing.
- Makes detailed prints for manufacturing ensuring correctness and completeness of dimensions and bills of material.
- Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, local codes, and company quality standards
- May work independently, or as part of a team to assess engineering design feasibility, cost effectiveness and manufacturability as required.
- Responsible for maintaining drawings within AutoGate’s vaulting system. May be required to work on Engineering Change Documents such as ECR's and ECO's, and ECNs.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Associate’s degree with one to two years of related experience, or equivalent on the job engineering experience will also be considered.
Knowledge, skill and abilities
Must have an above average knowledge of AutoDesk products such as AutoCAD, Inventor and AutoDesk Vault. A working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD is a must. Knowledge of other drafting/modeling packages will be considered. Candidate must be familiar with Microsoft Office products. Above average verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings/electrical schematics. Proficient in algebra and geometry and how to apply to solve engineering problems is a plus. Personal Protective Equipment
A person performing this job is required to always wear safety glasses with side shields and foot protection if working in the shop or while on any job site. Hearing protection is not required but is available for use while doing this job. This person must follow all other rules of PPE if performing any other safety sensitive task during the workday.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment with regular interaction on a production floor. The production planner / scheduler routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. The employee may occasionally need to balance, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, push, pull, reach, reach above shoulder, squat and engage in repetitive motions. May occasionally be required to enter shop floor areas where personal protective equipment (PPE) is required; involving exposure to inside and outside heat/cold/wet/humid or dry conditions. The noise level in the work environment will vary and can occasionally be moderate to loud when on the production floor. The individual must be able to navigate both office and industrial environment safely and effectively.
