The Fleet and Logistics Manager will lead all aspects of transportation operations across owned, leased, and third-party carrier networks. This role oversees driver management, DOT compliance, telematics performance, maintenance coordination, and logistics scheduling for LTL, FTL, and refrigerated loads across the U.S. The ideal candidate combines operational discipline with strategic thinking — ensuring every mile is safe, efficient, and cost-effective while providing visibility and confidence to internal teams and customers.


Role Objectives

  1. Driver Management
    1. Recruit, train, and manage the company’s fleet of drivers to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency.
    2. Monitor driver performance using telematics and safety programs, implementing corrective actions when needed.
    3. Foster a positive safety culture, focusing on driver retention, engagement, and professional development.
  1. Fleet Operations & Telematics Management
    1. Leverage telematics systems (preferably Samsara) to maximize fleet efficiency, optimize routes, improve security, and manage fuel and operating costs.
    2. Track and report on vehicle and driver performance to support operational decision-making.
  1. DOT-Regulated Fleet Management
    1. Oversee compliance and safe operation of a DOT-regulated fleet responsible for LTL, FTL, and refrigerated loads of CIPP lining materials across the U.S.
    2. Maintain full compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
  1. Preventative Maintenance & Repairs
    1. Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs and schedules (B2W Maintain preferred).
    2. Build and manage a network of mobile fleet service providers to deliver preventative maintenance and critical repairs coast-to-coast, ensuring maximum uptime.
  1. Carrier & Freight Scheduling
    1. Schedule and coordinate with third-party carriers for inbound and outbound shipments.
    2. Develop and manage comprehensive scheduling processes to ensure tight deadlines are met while lowering landed freight costs for customers.
  1. Delivery Visibility & Communication
    1. Create internal- and external-facing visibility tools to provide real-time updates on critical delivery schedules.
    2. Partner closely with the Order Fulfillment team and Plant Operations to ensure accurate communication and proactive resolution of delivery risks.
  1. Fleet Asset Management (Owned, Leased, and Rental)
    1. Manage the company’s portfolio of owned, leased, and rental fleets across all U.S. operations.
    2. Negotiate and oversee lease and rental agreements, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
    3. Optimize the balance between rental equipment spend and owned capitalized equipment to maximize cost efficiency.
  1. Strategic Supply Chain Support
    1. Partner with operations and supply chain teams to align logistics strategies with production and customer demand.
    2. Provide leadership in optimizing asset utilization, logistics efficiency, and cost savings.

  • Fleet Efficiency & Uptime
    • Average fleet utilization rate (%)
    • Fleet uptime percentage vs. downtime (goal: >95%)
    • Fuel efficiency and cost per mile trends
  • Compliance & Safety
    • DOT compliance audit scores (target: 100% compliance)
    • Incident/accident frequency rate (goal: continuous reduction year-over-year)
    • Driver safety and telematics scorecards
  • Maintenance & Repair Management
    • Preventative maintenance completion rate (% on-time)
    • Average turnaround time for critical repairs
    • Reduction in unplanned breakdowns
  • Logistics & Freight Management
    • On-time delivery rate (%) for LTL, FTL, and refrigerated loads
    • Cost per shipment vs. budget (landed cost optimization)
    • Percentage of freight scheduled via third-party carriers vs. in-house assets (with cost-benefit analysis)
  • Delivery Visibility & Communication
    • % of shipments with real-time tracking visible to stakeholders
    • Accuracy of projected vs. actual delivery times
    • Reduction in customer escalations due to delivery delays
  • Financial & Strategic Impact
    • Freight cost savings vs. prior year
    • Contribution to EBITDA improvements via logistics efficiencies
    • Implementation of improved logistics planning processes integrated into ERP/operations systems


Work Environment:

This role operates within a fast-paced manufacturing and logistics environment, balancing time in the office, onsite with drivers, and hands-on work in the yard or shop as needed. Typical work involves coordination across multiple plant locations, repair vendors, and freight providers. Safety protocols, PPE, and adherence to facility standards are expected at all times.



Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, exempt position. While primarily weekday-based, availability for urgent after-hours communication may be required during high-priority delivery windows or equipment breakdowns.
