Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing general ledger accounts, including recording journal entries and performing timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations, as well as management of certain balance sheet areas (i.e. accrued liabilities).  
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation for audit purposes. 
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes. 
  • Assisting in audits and providing supporting documentation. 
  • Identifying and recommending process improvements to enhance the efficiency of reconciliation activities.  
  • Ensuring adherence to GAAP principles and other regulations, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external auditors, and helping to resolve audit findings.  
  • Conducting detailed financial and variance analysis, monitoring financial performance, and providing insights to support strategic business decisions.  
  • Developing and implementing new or improved accounting systems, processes, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.  
  • Preparation of various sales tax returns 
  • Assisting with the development of budgets and financial forecasts, and monitoring expenditures and budget variances.  

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Experience & Education: 3–5 years of relevant work experience (public accounting firm and/or corporate environment) with a bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite (with advanced Excel skills such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP), and reconciliation software.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze financial data, identify patterns or discrepancies, and resolve complex issues effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and precision to ensure integrity of financial records.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with internal teams, banks, and external auditors.
  • Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain well-organized documentation.
  • Additional Key Skills: Strong analytical abilities, adaptability under pressure, knowledge of financial regulations, and effective time management.
