This position is Limited Tenure. Limited Tenure (LT) means that if you are offered the position and accept it: 

  • You will be categorized as a regular employee during this tenure, but employment will be terminated at the established end date.
  • You committed to stay in this position until the end of the tenure (approximately 24 months from date of hire) before you become eligible to transfer to a new position.
  • After the completion of the limited tenure assignment, it is your responsibility to secure another role within Mayo through the job vacancy process or employment will be ended upon the completion of the limited tenure assignment. 

Mayo Clinic is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. The focus for this 2-year Limited Tenure Analyst Programmer will be to work on one of the Agile Development teams supporting enhancements to Mayo’s ServiceNow instance. The best candidate will provide configuration and customization of the ServiceNow platform and be fluent in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies.

DWP Workplaces Operations unit is organized under the Digital Workplaces & Platform domain of the Technology Administration and Operations portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining custom and purchased systems software.
  • Remediating customized ServiceNow components based on health assessments.
  • Participating in code reviews and ensuring compliance with Mayo’s technical governance and release management standards.
  • Documenting system requirements, designs, and resource inventories.
  • Providing technical leadership and collaborating across departments and vendor teams.
  • Supporting platform upgrades and ensuring skipped records are properly created for modified Out-of-Box scripts.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and training/experience in technical development; OR, Associate’s degree and 5 years’ professional experience in technical development. Knowledge of system design principles, software development methodologies, and computer programming.
Ability to take responsibility and accountability for own activities. Possesses ability to multi-task and prioritize issues appropriately. Aids in the evaluation of alternative approaches and may help in presenting recommendations to teams and unit. Evidence of strong communication and organizational skills. May interface with vendor support service groups or other external support teams to ensure proper escalation
during outages or periods of degraded system performance. Acts as a liaison to Mayo departments and vendors to adequately support the division's computing systems. Experience working in healthcare technology. Exposure to managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare technology and managing both custom and vendor-supplied applications.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and ServiceNow scripting (Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts and UI Policies).
  • Proficiency in process definition and ServiceNow flows/workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, including avoiding risky practices like using eval(), hard-coded IDs, or console.log() in production code.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, including CMDB, ACLs, dictionary attributes, and global behaviors.
  • Familiarity with Quality Clouds and its coding best practices for ServiceNow.
