POSITION: Behavior Intervention Specialist – 0.50 FTE
LOCATION: Livingston Elementary
SALARY: Based on the 2025-2026 Teacher Salary Schedule

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with applicable endorsements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 5 years of certificated teaching experience
- Successful experience creating and implementing professional development for staff, parents, and the community
- Successful experience in the planning and implementation of behavior intervention plans and schoolwide social and emotional learning curriculum
- Successful experience or willing to work with and build relationships with students with social, emotional, and behavioral, and mental health needs
- Successful experience or willingness to work collaboratively with mental health professionals
- Training and/or experience working with multi-lingual learners
- Willingness to participate in additional training (i.e., PBIS, CPI, Student Center Coaching, Restorative Practices)
- Successful demonstration of high levels of collaboration with colleagues, both in and out of the classroom
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to use good judgment / work under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and take personal initiative
- Demonstrated leadership role
- Demonstrated effective positive classroom management
- Demonstrated understanding of tiered interventions
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and adjust interventions for students
- Must be willing to follow-up with students, staff, and parents regarding behavior incidents and plans
- General understanding of educational rules, regulations, and ethics along with an advance level of ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions with a minimum of direct instruction
The candidate must demonstrate commitment to student success while aligning with state requirements and the school’s guiding principles, vision, and mission. The candidate must also demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for working with all students. The candidate must be willing to participate in required trainings and professional development, implement best practices that foster meaningful learning experiences, work within a system that supports student interventions, and collaborate with relevant staff members to enhance student outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
- Previous successful classroom teaching experience
- Bilingual/Biliterate* in English/Spanish
- Training in LSCI and/or CPI
- Experience with creating and implementing individual behavior intervention plans
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Collect and analyze student behavior data and monitor student academic and behavioral progress
- Assist students in meeting behavioral goals
- Work with building admin and staff to help develop, maintain and improve building culture and climate
- Support students with their behavior plans
- Utilize de-escalation techniques consistently
- Attend student centered coaching trainings
- Provide reflection opportunities with students
- Provide reteaching opportunities within self-regulation and management
- Provide small group interventions for small groups as needed
- Work with teachers to implement best practices in classroom management
- Provide training opportunities and modeling of behavior interventions and strategies for teachers
- Deliver professional learning to build relationships and capacity of the school staff to support students with behavioral health needs in partnership with families, community, and community service providers
- Develop a formalized process for identifying students who exhibit risk factors leading to behaviors that interfere with the learning process, by partially utilizing academic performance, behavioral data, disciplinary data, and attendance records.
- Enhance behavioral health service delivery to students by ensuring rapid response and regular follow-up to interventions.
- Coordinate interventions to facilitate students in transitioning through services and supports with minimal disruption to their daily routine, programs, and education.
- Deliver professional learning to build relationships and capacity of the school staff to support students with behavioral health needs in partnership with families, community, and community service providers.
- Interventions need to be developed that are culturally relevant and sensitive to the family and students’ culture.
- Ensure there is fidelity to the program as well as fairness and equity.
