Medical Records Coder

The PACE Medical Records Coder is responsible for assigning, revising, and auditing accurate and appropriate ICD 10, CPT and HCPCS codes for all PACE participant encounters and services. The PACE Medical Records Coder is a resource for PACE’s clinical and administrative staff for accurate and comprehensive coding. The PACE Medical Records Coder also serves as a resource to the PACE Health Information & QI Manager, Medical Records Specialist, and the Quality & Compliance Support Specialist, assisting in accurate and timely management of medical records, quality monitoring, and audits.

What is PACE?

PACE or Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly is a federal and state funded program that provides comprehensive, coordinated, and proactive whole-person care to help maintain and improve seniors' health so they can live safely in their homes. There are 180 PACE programs, serving more than 80,700 participants in 33 states.

The number of people aged 55+ is increasing in Grand Junction, CO and the demand for eldercare professionals is on the rise.

What You Bring:

  • Current AAPC or AHIMA Certified Professional Coding Certificate required.
  • Minimum of two years of coding experience using ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes required.
  • ICD-10 coding certification required.
  • Must maintain current coding certification by complying with annual CEU and examination requirements, per AAPC/AHIMA requirements.
  • Competence in using agency information and technology systems.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills; gives and receives feedback in a timely open manner; engages collaboratively in conflict resolution processes as needed.
  • Flexible and responsive in meeting and exceeding the expectations of all customers, both internal and external.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, techniques, anatomy and physiology, major disease processes, pharmacology, and the metric system to identify clinical findings, to support existing diagnoses or substantiate listing additional diagnoses in the medical record.
  • Advanced knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes, to ensure comprehensive capture and report of the full range of services, DME and supplies provided to PACE participants.

  • Competitive pay structure starting at $20.79-$23.00 per hour, depending on experience. 
  • Full-time hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm schedule.
