Job Overview

Orangetheory Fitness is seeking a dynamic and strategic Regional Fitness & Retention Manager to lead the growth, development, and retention of our fitness teams for up to 12 studios across South Austin with potential expansion into the San Antonio market.

This high-impact role is responsible for cultivating world-class coaching talent, optimizing the in-studio class experience, and driving key retention strategies that align with company performance goals. The ideal candidate has a multi-unit fitness leadership background, ideally within Orangetheory, and is passionate about coaching Head Coaches, building strong leadership pipelines, and executing with excellence at the studio level.

This position reports directly to the Director of Fitness Performance and works closely with Area Directors and cross-functional leaders in sales, operations, and marketing.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Studio Support & Fitness Leadership
    1. Partner with Area Directors and Regional Sales & Ops leaders to ensure consistent execution of an elevated member experience across studios.
    2. Provide hands-on coaching support, including studio walkthroughs, fitness visit forms, feedback sessions, and schedule assessments.
  • Talent Development & Team Management
    1. Hire, train, and develop Head Coaches serving as a direct people leader for both Head Coaches and Regional Head Coaches.
    2. Build and maintain a strong leadership bench; identify and coach future leaders within the fitness team.
    3. Lead regional onboarding, Orangetheory Certifications, and ongoing coach development workshops.
  • Fitness Strategy & Execution
    1. Guide Head Coaches in evaluating class schedules to maximize utilization and studio performance.
    2. Drive member-centric programming strategies aimed at improving retention and studio engagement.
    3. Provide performance coaching and development for up to 10 in-studio classes per week.
  • Market Growth & Community Engagement
    1. Represent Orangetheory at community events such as parades, fitness fairs, and farmers markets.
    2. Collaborate with marketing teams to support internal and external events that drive studio visibility and acquisition.
  • Data-Driven Leadership
    1. Use Fitness analytics to assess class effectiveness, coach performance, and retention trends.
    2. Provide regular performance insights and improvement strategies to studio leadership.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • OTF-approved fitness certification (NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, etc.) required
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Minimum 3 years of OTF coaching experience, including 1–2 years as a Head Coach
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-unit leadership, preferably across 4+ studios
  • Proven experience developing and mentoring Head Coaches
  • Ability to coach up to 10 classes/week while traveling daily across multiple studios
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a hands-on, servant-leader mentality
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, field-based role
  • Reliable transportation for daily travel within the region; occasional out-of-state travel required

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • Strong understanding of studio operations, class utilization strategy, and member retention best practices
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with sales, operations, and marketing teams
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a proactive approach to problem-solving and team building
