About the Department
POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of the Customer Service Cashier Clerk is to assist the court and aid the public with information relating to traffic and criminal matters handled by Cleveland Municipal Court. Handles all customers requesting information pertaining to court cases, bond information and the on-goings of court procedures. Also, take care of customers at the Fine and Waiver window, process all the mail that comes in with payments and answer incoming calls concerning court dates and ticket information. Responsible for maintaining records of funds received by the public by performing the following duties.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Clerk.
- Motion filings.
- Verification of Warrants/Capias (faxes, radio and phone)
- Pull files for Arraignment Possible Warrant List.
- Writing and setting bonds according to bond schedule provided.
- Daily Audit Bond Release Agreements for accuracy.
- Entering information into computer regarding cases filed with Cleveland Municipal Court, Criminal Division.
- Provides daily customer service to the public, law enforcement agencies, judges, attorneys, bondsman and all court and other personnel.
- Collect money for waiver tickets, court fines and fees and bonds.
- Process waiver tickets and court fines that arrive in the mail.
- Answer traffic ticket information.
- Assist the public by answering questions regarding court regulations and procedures.
- Close and balance cash drawer at end of day and complete the daily balance sheet.
- Responsible for witness voucher payment.
- Process Bureau of Criminal Investigation Incident Tracking Number (ITN) Final Disposition Forms.
- Prepares the docket Jail Arraignment Docket.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrates regular and punctual attendance and arrives prepared for work. Excellent customer service skills, analytical skills and judgment, with the ability to make recommendations or decisions on a timely basis. Problem solver, and to interpret business needs and translate them into the application and operational requirements. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental officials and associates. Ability to analyze and solve problems while developing, establishing and maintaining an efficient office workflow of processes. Committed to doing the best job possible and diligently follows through on work assignments, projects and/or commitments. Consistently meets deadlines. Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions promptly. Capable of multi-tasking and has excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have intermediate or advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PC computer skills, including data entry skills. Must type 30 words per minute. Clerical skills, i.e. filing, telephone skills, correspondence, proofreading, alphabetizing, etc.
