Description
- High School diploma and four years experience or involvement with people with developmental disabilities.
- Must possess demonstrated leadership ability and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences both orally and in writing. The individual should be familiar with the community and with the needs of persons with disabilities and their families.
- Must possess valid Tennessee driver’s license and be insurable under agency insurance programs.
- Works primarily outside of premises. Schedule may vary, including nights and weekends. Works effectively with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- Coordinate the agency’s community outreach efforts on behalf of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families.
- Complete administrative duties as required to maintain affiliation with The Arc of Tennessee and The Arc of the United States.
- Coordinate membership activities, including conducting membership campaigns, billing members, and submitting necessary information to the state and national offices.
- Publish and/or distribute information concerning people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities in electronic and printed format, including meeting announcements, legislative alerts, etc.
- Schedule and support periodic meetings of the members and prospective members of The Arc.
- Be physically present on site when activities of The Arc are occurring on a regularly scheduled and unscheduled basis to observe, present, and address concerns.
- Represent The Arc, its services, and the people supported to the public as required through participation in public information efforts, including written and oral presentations.
- Recommend and arrange for advocacy support for families and individuals attending support planning meetings, including IEPs, IFSPs, ISPs.
- Establish and implement procedures to ensure an effective flow of communication among agency staff and state and national offices.
- Maintain relationships, open communication, and cooperation with the individuals supported by The Arc, their families, conservators/guardians, or other representatives.
- In conjunction with others, help assure that the rights of people with disabilities who reside in designated counties are supported and protected.
- Assure confidentiality of all privileged information and records concerning persons supported, their families, as well as any additional information concerning the agency, its staff, clientele, or operations which may be considered to be of a confidential nature.
