YOUR PURPOSE

Oversee all commercial loan origination, sales, and servicing functions to ensure on-going efficient and quality origination, servicing, compliance with all regulatory guidelines and adherence to organizational policies and procedures. Oversee treasury management services and cash management development delivery functions appropriate for Horizon Credit Union’s target market segment. Maintain working knowledge of the loan portfolio, the loan servicing system, cash flow analysis, procedures, and transactions. This position will also manage relationships with our commercial services vendors and make recommendations to the Vice President of Lending regarding commercial services product and service enhancements and oversee annual due diligence.


YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR 

  •   Manage and oversee commercial services deliverables and processes to ensure activities are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with internal policies and procedures as well as state and federal guidelines.
  • Oversee all commercial services functions, meeting the needs of external and  internal members. 
  • Underwrite commercial real estate and C&I loans in support of Horizon Credit Union’s commercial risk tolerance.
  • Participate in commercial credit committee meetings and make loan decision recommendations.
  • Perform treasury management services risk assessments for member requests to ensure credit union risk tolerances are met.
  • Oversight of quality control of newly boarded loans, including verification of non-financial and post-close ticklers.
  • Oversight of interest rate and payment change processing and notifications.
  • Oversight of the development and implementation of ongoing Commercial Services processes and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements/efficiencies and update as necessary to support Horizon Credit Union’s strategic plan, regulatory changes, or  new products and service implementations.
  • Serve as a key manager of commercial services vendor relationships. Manage contracts, negotiations, problem solving, and user access.
  • Work closely with collections and commercial teams as needed to support  workout, modification and foreclosure processes as needed.
  • In conjunction with compliance, oversee HMDA reporting for commercial loans as required by regulations.
  • Oversees the Credit Union’s commercial loan origination, processing, underwriting, and servicing functions.
  • Oversees the delivery of Credit Union’s treasury management services, and cash management products and programs.
  • Oversees credit administration requirements for the commercial lending portfolio to include timely annual reviews, proper file documentation and quality.
  • Assumes responsibility for the implementation of, and adherence to effective commercial services policies, procedures, and planning.
  • Ensures that commercial services functions are completed in accordance with established Credit Union policies and procedures, as well as related legal requirements. Executes established operational goals and ensures corporate-wide plans are complemented and supported.
  • Provide input to Senior Leadership regarding departmental origination budgets as well as balance sheet and profit and loss benchmarks.
  • Assists the Retail Leadership team with developing strategies to solicit and originate quality commercial loans and ancillary commercial services products such as treasury and cash management services.
  • Provides suggestions and recommendations for improved service delivery and business portfolio management. Ensures that optimal efficiency is maintained in commercial lending functions by monitoring and evaluating work quality,  efficiency, and productivity. 
  • Ensures the integrity and accuracy of all commercial loan documents.
  • Serves on Horizon Credit Union’s Credit Committee.
  • May possess loan authority up to prescribed limits, subject to all applicable Rules and Regulations.
  • Coordinates and directs the development of new products and/or product enhancements.
  • Establishes, and negotiates where necessary the terms under which credit will be extended, including the pricing, costs, repayment methods and schedule, and collateral requirements. 
  • Adhere to all lending and operational policies and procedures which are consistent with overall Credit Union policies and operating objectives. 
  • Review policies and procedures on an ongoing basis, new laws and regulations which could affect the enforceability of loan security agreements for commercial and business loans. 
  • Supervise the processing of all loans originated and managed by the unit. This includes working with Underwriting in preparing loan presentations and working with support staff to order and review loan documents; performing client service functions; and obtaining documentation and financial statements required under loan tickler system 

Leadership

  • Manage performance and be accountable for results, accuracy and timeliness of work. Drive strong team cooperation and collaboration and ensure timely and direct communication with all team members
  • Oversee the training process for systems, processes and procedures for all employees. Ensure department goals are met as established by Management and measured through budgeted goal attainment and new account and relationship development
  • Provides leadership to Commercial Lending team members through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication. Conducts staff meetings as required and informs Commercial Lending team members of program and procedure changes. Discusses areas needing improvement
  • Ensures team members are well-equipped, effective, and optimally utilized. Identifies training needs and develops and conducts appropriate training of staff as needed
  • Recommend and make changes in staffing levels, the basic structure and/or organization of the department to ensure the effective completion of objectives 
  • Conducts performance appraisals for Commercial Lending team members. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed. Sets individual goals with team members and counsels them on career

The full pay range for this position across all the states in which we hire is $91,050-$141,127/annually . The figures shown represent the minimum and maximum of the range for this role. Individual offers are made dependent upon a candidate’s experience, education, and skill level.

Requirements

EXPERTISE YOU NEED


Education & Experience 

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Business, Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of five years of recent experience in commercial lending origination, underwriting,  and operations, with a demonstrated ability to lead teams, including supervision and credit administration. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
