The Vice President, Human Resources Business Partner provides leadership and direction for the system’s Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) team, ensuring their evolution into trusted, strategic partners to leaders across the organization. Leads transformational approaches to team member relations, supports labor relations strategies, and aligns HRBP practices with the organization’s vision, mission, and goals. Partners closely with leadership to drive a culture of engagement, accountability, and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as leader of the system’s Human Resources Business Partner team, developing and implementing the strategic direction to support the vision, mission, strategy, and goals of the organization.
  • Aligns Human Resources philosophies, policies, and programs with the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Leads mission-critical strategies that enhance employee engagement, advance leadership development, support workforce development, improve organizational performance, and brand WellSpan as the employer of choice in the market.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and support to members of the Human Resources Leadership Team.
  • Oversees the provision of HRBP services delivered timely, effectively, and efficiently, in a manner that supports the strategic and operating objectives of the system.
  • Oversees and advances employee relations practices that ensure fairness, consistency, compliance, and timely resolution of complex issues, while building trust and accountability across the organization.
  • Leads the transformation of employee relations practices by leveraging technology, analytics, and streamlined processes to improve case management, ensure proactive risk mitigation, and provide expert guidance and support in litigation, investigations, and regulatory matters.
  • Supports system leadership in assessing performance capability, organizational structure, and workforce alignment.
  • Provides direct leadership and development for the HRBP team, building capability in executive consultation, workforce analytics, organizational design, and strategic talent planning.
  • Establishes metrics and accountability frameworks to measure HRBP effectiveness and system impact.
  • Leads transformational strategies in team member relations that strengthen trust, enhance engagement, and create scalable, consistent practices across the system. 
  • Serves as the system’s lead for labor relations, developing proactive labor strategies, overseeing contract negotiations, mitigating labor risk, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Partners with executive, finance, legal, and operational leaders to align human capital strategies with operational and financial objectives, positioning HRBPs as critical enablers of performance and organizational success.
  • Supports technology platforms that support HRBP, Human Resources, system leaders and team members including but not limited to Oracle and Service Now. 
  • Coaches, develops, and empowers the HRBP team to deliver high-value solutions in workforce planning, organizational design, change management, and leadership development.
  • Partners with the communications team to ensure consistent, clear, and timely team member–related messaging across the system.
  • Oversees the creation, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and practices that support fairness, equity, compliance, and a positive team member experience. 
  • Provides enterprise leadership for organizational change initiatives, including restructures, growth strategies, mergers/acquisitions, and culture transformation efforts.

 

Qualifications

  • Masters degree required.
  • At least five years of experience in human resources including healthcare human resources leadership.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
  • Excellent human relations and oral/written communications skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to solve complex problems LEAN, Six Sigma and health care delivery concepts and strategies
  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Programs including Excel
