About the Role:
The Electrical Technician Level 1 NS plays a critical role in supporting the electrical systems and equipment essential to operations within the oil and gas extraction and mining industries. This position focuses on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical components to ensure continuous and safe production activities. The technician will work closely with engineering and operations teams to identify electrical issues and implement effective solutions promptly. This role demands adherence to strict safety standards and regulatory compliance to protect personnel and equipment. Ultimately, the Electrical Technician Level 1 NS contributes to minimizing downtime and optimizing operational efficiency through skilled electrical support.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with completion of an accredited electrical technician training program.
- Basic understanding of electrical theory, circuitry, and safety practices relevant to industrial environments.
- Experience with electrical tools, testing equipment, and reading electrical schematics or blueprints.
- Ability to work safely in hazardous environments following OSHA and company safety protocols.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various site locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or certification in electrical technology or a related field.
- Previous experience in the oil and gas or mining industry with exposure to heavy industrial electrical systems.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automated control systems.
- Certification in first aid, CPR, or other safety-related credentials.
- Strong problem-solving skills demonstrated through prior hands-on electrical troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using appropriate tools and techniques, escalating complex issues as necessary.
- Install, repair, and replace electrical wiring, components, and control systems in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project installations, upgrades, and emergency repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory to support operational transparency and compliance.
Skills:
The required skills enable the technician to effectively perform electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs by applying foundational electrical knowledge and safety practices daily.
