GMC is seeking a motivated CADD Technician II (Temporary/Part-Time) for our Birmingham, AL office. The successful candidate should be able to evaluate, select, and apply standards, techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features. 

Essential functions and responsibilities include: 

  • Prepare plans and drawings as assigned. 
  • Possesses thorough understanding of AutoCAD Land Desktop drafting program and be skilled in its application. 
  • Develops broad knowledge of the design process and understands company technical standards. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to integrate multiple components of design (i.e. structural, civil, electrical, etc.) 
  • Familiarity with general survey drafting standards and general construction drawing standards. 
  • Ability to apply technical skills to routine projects with minimal supervision. 
  • Visit construction sites to observe progress and to determine general conformance to engineering plans and specifications. 
  • QA/QC 
    • Executes cross discipline checks and coordination. 
    • Recognizes and reports risk management issues to Senior Designer as appropriate. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical School or Community College 
  • 4+ years of experience
  • AutoCAD proficiency required
