Veteran Benefits Guide (VBG) was founded by a former United States Marine with the goal of ensuring that Veterans receive accurate disability benefits in a timely manner. Since it was founded, VBG has guided more than 35,000 Veterans through the complicated Veteran Affairs (VA) disability claims process. Who we’re looking for:
The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing innovative, effective, and scalable learning solutions that enhance employee performance and support organizational objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong design expertise, technical proficiency, and the ability to collaborate across departments to deliver engaging and impactful learning experiences.
Requirements
Essential Functions:

- Partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders to conduct needs assessments and identify learning requirements.
- Design and develop curriculum, e-Learning modules, microlearning, scenario-based learning, facilitator guides, and performance support tools that align with business goals.
- Apply adult learning principles, instructional design models, modern learning technologies, and feedback to create engaging, interactive, and accessible programs.
- Leverage e-Learning authoring tools and multimedia applications to produce high-quality digital content.
- Manage and maintain course content within the organization’s Learning Management System (LMS) or Learning Experience Platform (LXP).
- Implement measurement and evaluation strategies to assess training effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
- Stay current with learning trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to enhance the learning function.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience designing, developing, and evaluating instructional content for corporate learning programs (Master’s Degree a plus).
- Proficiency with e-Learning authoring, design, and engagement tools (Articulate 360 - Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, Canva, Kahoot!, Synthesia or similar).
- Experience with Learning Management Systems and knowledge of SCORM/xAPI standards.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven project management, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with video production, graphic design, or user experience design.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies or rapid prototyping.
- Exposure to advanced learning technologies such as AI, AR/VR, and learning analytics.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, or related field.
**This is a 6-month temporary assignment**
