The Prince George’s County Department of The Environment is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Customer Service Representative, (Community Development Aide I/II) grade A05-A07 position, in the Animal Services Division.
About the Position
This is an entry-level clerical position working in the are of animal management, receiving, recording and processing customer service requests and compliants for the Animal Services Facility and Adoption Center. Work is performed under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. In accordance with DoE Instruction 110.4, this position is considered essential personnel.
About the Agency
The Department of the Environment works for a healthy, beautiful and sustainable County through programs that provide clean water, flood control, recycling and waste management, litter prevention, sustainable animal management and pet adoption in partnership with residents and other stakeholders. Some of our core services include providing clean water services (Stormwater Management Division); flooding prevention for buildings and structures (Sustainability Division and Stormwater Management Division); collecting, processing and diverting waste from the County-operated landfill, commercial facilities and householders (Resource Recovery Division); providing sustainability services to reduce greenhouse gas and emission (Sustainability Division); and facilitating pet adoptions, managing an animal holding facility, issuing pet licenses, investigating cruelty complaints and conducting humane outreach and education events (Animal Services Division).
Position Duties
Uses approved telephone techniques when answering customers inquires and complaints.
Relays information to callers on animal matters.
Maintains a working knowledge of the County’s Animal Control Ordinances and advises citizens when needed.
Researches tag information for citizens who are holding stray animals in an attempt to locate their owners.
Assists callers as needed, by either entering activities into the Chameleon system for an officer to respond or referring callers to an agency that can provide help if Animal Services cannot.
Promotes a favorable image of the County and Department in performing assigned tasks.

Minimum Qualifications
Completion of the tenth (10th) school grade. Residence in the geographic area of work assignment. Demonstrated interest in civic or community affairs.
Customer Service experience.
