MR/CT Supervisor Position Summary
The MR/CT Supervisor oversees daily operations and staff within the MR/CT department, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws. This role involves supervising, training, and evaluating employees, resolving departmental issues, and maintaining high standards of patient care and imaging quality. The Supervisor acts as a departmental leader, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills, composure under pressure, and a commitment to safety and customer service.
Key responsibilities include coordinating workflow, troubleshooting equipment and procedural issues, ensuring adherence to radiologist protocols, and maintaining quality assurance programs such as ACR compliance. The Supervisor also engages directly with patients to explain procedures, ensure comfort and safety, and monitor imaging quality. Strong leadership, technical expertise, and a collaborative approach are essential to foster a positive team environment and deliver world-class service.
MR/CT Supervisor Detailed Responsibilities
- Supervises employees in MR/CT in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Act as leader of department making sure all problems are solved in a timely manner.
- Able to trouble shoot and work on a solution under stressful situations.
- Maintains composure in difficult situations that may involve patients, radiologist, and co-workers.
- May need to interview patient to explain MR/CT procedures and to request removal of clothing and metal objects which are hazardous to patient and equipment.
- Positions patient on examining table and places specified coil. Review patient history for any indications that may change exam.
- Follow protocols requested by Radiologist.
- Enters data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified.
- Observes and communicates with patient throughout exam to monitor patient safety and comfort.
- Views images of area being scanned on monitor display screen to ensure quality of pictures.
- Alerts staff, patients or caregivers entering magnet room to danger of wearing or carrying metal around magnet.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Monitor ACR and other QA programs making sure they are completed in their entirety.

Requirements
Education and Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
MRTBE, ARRT board certification in CT and MR must be obtained.
Other Skills and Abilities
- I.V. Skills
- CPR certification required
- Must be flexible to work at multiple locations
- Must be flexible to work varied shifts.
