About the Department
Position Duties
Minimum Qualifications
- Enters and maintains data in automated case management system.
- Notarizes documents, record orders, and compiles statistics.
- Reviews legal documents and court files for accuracy and completeness.
- Reviews files for appropriate documents and/or forms.
- Establishes court calendars to ensure optimum uses of court time.
- Finalizes/assists drafting of Judge's orders.
- Maintains docket for hearings.
- Performs a variety of clerical support activities for the judges.
- Records Court proceedings, controls exhibits marked for identification or for admission as evidence.
- Processes citations, schedules court appearances, and actions.
- Notes requests and motions from defendants, their representative(s) and/or the prosecutor.
- Accepts payments of fines, bonds, and child support.
- Totals daily incoming funds.
- Updates and maintains computerized records of case proceedings, dispositions, actions and payments.
- Assist the Court Administrator and the Deputy Court Clerk II as assigned.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Other Qualifications
- Knowledge of general Ak-Chin Indian Community criminal and civil court system policies, procedures, and operations.
- Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and practices.
- Knowledge of the required contents, information and documents in case files and records.
- Knowledge of legal terminology, statues and court procedures.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with other criminal justice/law enforcement departments/personnel, community members, other tribal organizations.
- Skill in operating a variety of office equipment, include telephones, copier, typewriters, calculators, and personal computers.
- Skill in using computerized database, spreadsheet , and word processing applications.
- Skill in understanding and following complex instructions, guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to research and verify information.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
