Hourly Rate Range: $50.00 to $54.00 DOE/DOQ.

SUMMARY:
The Lead Nurse coordinates health care services and provides leadership and consultation to the Superintendent, Principals, staff, students and parents in matters pertaining to health services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:
- Develop and coordinate a health services program for students and staff;
- Assist with the interview and hiring of school nurses;
- Develop orientation and continuing education opportunities for school nurses/clinic aides;
- Interpret state health regulations and develop appropriate programs to comply with the regulations;
- Responsible for successful submission of data collection/state reporting as required by the Department of Education and as assigned by the Director of Student Services;
- Develop written health policies for the school division;
- Serve as a liaison among the professional medical community, the various departments within the school division, parents, administrators, students and the health services providers;
- Provide health information to students and staff;
- Assist with preparation and management of the School Medical/Health Services budget;
- Chair and serve on the School Health Advisory Board;
- Coordinates and provides CPR/First Aid/AED training and health services available to employees including the division wide Wellness Plan;
- Maintains CPR/First Aid/AED Instructional Certification-must obtain within the first year of employment (AHA);
- Serves as the School Nurse for Dixon Education Center;
- Respects the confidentiality of records and information;
- Collaborates with the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services to maintain the medical service’s website and;
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Candidate must possess demonstrated ability and professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, school personnel and members of the community.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Licensed Registered Nurse
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children in a school setting
- Active CPR Certification required
