Transportation Router (Special Education)

 

 

Reports to: Director of Transportation

 

Job Summary:

 

Assist in the routing of the bus fleet to provide service to either our General Education students or Special Education students.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares all daily, weekly, monthly, and annual route planning activities for special education students for school year and summer school operations
  • Regularly communicate and meet with Special Education district administrators to plan for peek routing periods and develop efficient process for sharing information
  • Assist with overseeing daily route, run, and stop management
  • Completes route map updates for special education runs
  • Gathers regular student counts for state reporting and efficiency management
  • Answer phones and record all scheduling, parent, and school concerns; resolve or refer parent concerns to ensure a resolution
  • Serve as a point of contact for parents, schools, and bus drives, providing timely information on bus routes, schedules, and any changes or delays
  • Serves as lead with returning parent phone calls
  • Provide solutions to drop-off and pick-up problems; assist with student record updates
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical duties and back-up driver duties as needed
  • Facilitate district support and training to assist CDL candidates
  • Assists with HR on managing the hiring and onboarding of employees
  • Serves as a back-up for the Router (Regular Education)
  • Participates in on-going training related to software systems related to the Transportation Department, such as Bytecurv, Transfinder, Viewfinder TimeClock Plus
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience working in a school transportation setting required.
  • Experience working as a CDL Bus Driver desired.
  • Experience working as a router desired.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Visual acuity
  • Auditory acuity
  • Ability to reach above and below the waist
  • Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
  • Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 50 lbs.
  • Ability to mostly sit with some walking, standing or moving throughout the work environment

 

Level of Compensation:

 

This position's salary is determined by the collective bargaining plan for Support Staff employees. The starting salary for this position is $29.41/hour. After the completion of the 90-day probationary period, this position is eligible for a raise to bring the salary to $29.91/hour. This is a part-time, 10 month position.
