High School Graduation Coach (Temporary)

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated by supervisor on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the responsibilities and duties of the position

 

Education, Training and Experience: 

  • Associate’s degree or 48 hours related to education, social work, or counseling is preferred
  • Some experience with data entry is preferred

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities/Skills:

  • Works with Migratory/Latinx students to develop and/or follow a graduation achievement plan (to include the best program to meet academic and post-secondary goals)
  • Develops and implements individual intervention strategies to increase the likelihood that Migratory/Latinx students will stay in school and graduate
  • Works with teachers, counselors and administrators to offer instructional support to meet the needs of identified Migratory/Latinx students
  • Identifies and refers area social agencies with youth at risk of not graduating as well their parents/guardians
  • Provides students with appropriate career and post-secondary preparation, programs and services (facilitates field trips to colleges/universities, assist with FAFSA, assists with acquiring scholarships)
  • Tracks the progress of assigned students as they progress toward graduation; conduct academic monitoring of students and present concerns/successes to the director
  • Assists with coordinating Juntos 4-H club meetings and family nights in collaboration with NC State Juntos Program and Bladen County Extension (serve as Juntos Assistant)
  • Organize required paperwork and enter data in spreadsheets and/or online platform
  • Advocate for students and promote academic and emotional/social success
  • Conducts home visits of assigned students and families that may need additional support
  • Ability to use common spreadsheet, word processing and file maintenance programs.
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to understand, speak, read, and write in Spanish.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

 

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, write, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
