POSITION SUMMARY

Directs activities of all production areas in an efficient manner for the desired quality and quantity of work.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Primary accountability for specific functions and results)

1. Serves as a positive role model consistent with Polo’s corporate culture at all times.

2. Monitors activities of all personnel and operations in departments. Establishes priorities (goals) for individual task assignments within the department.

3. Ensures high quality products are produced by teams efficiently and effectively.

4. Complies, supports, and enforces all policies and procedures in regards to safety, quality, quantity and housekeeping standards.

5. Directs with respect to quality, production volume, cost, and meeting production schedules and delivery dates.

6. Confers with other department managers to maintain and meet work schedules.

7. Works with Resource Manager closely on staffing needs.

8. Assures that machinery, equipment and facilities are properly maintained. Makes recommendations for new equipment and/or attachment accessories.

9. Maintains good associate relations and takes proper measures if disciplinary action is needed.

10. Adheres to good manufacturing practices.

11. Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of non-value added practices within the departments.

12. Establishes goals for production in association with other department managers.

13. Reviews shop product alerts and justifies for changes when needed.

14. Notifies maintenance department of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective actions taken, and quality problems or supplies needed.

15. Conducts regular monthly meetings with departments to review production goals and quality problems and conveys management concerns and/or accomplishments.

16. Conducts performance evaluations for associates during orientation period and annually with input from Support, as well as recommends pay increases within company policy.

17. Participates in daily meetings and other project meetings.

18. Sets an example of high performance and is team oriented.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Not essential & could be performed by others, if necessary)

1. Other duties as assigned.

2. Ensures that external and internal customers’ needs are met.

3. Travels to seminars or off site facilities when necessary.

4. Responsible for a clean and orderly production area.


DIMENSIONS OF AUTHORITY

Positions that report to this position: Assistant supervisors and production technicians 

Limits of authority to change subordinates’ salaries, job assignments, operating policies, etc.: Recommends hourly annual increases. Responsible for training, planning, disciplining, addressing complaints, resolving problems, job assignments and enforcing policies and procedures.

Limits of capital expenditure authority: N/A

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

To perform at a proficient level and to be fully qualified, a person would be expected to have:

Education: (minimum required) High School or equivalent. Engineering degree a plus but not required.

Experience: (minimum required) Minimum of five (5) years in manufacturing environment. Two (2) years leadership or equivalent (preferred but not required). 

Licenses/Certifications:(minimum required) Enter licenses/certifications.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (minimum required):

1. Knowledge of written communication formats, business English and composition.

2. Provides training to develop knowledge skills and abilities of operators.

3. Knowledge of QA manual.

4. Strong communication, leadership, and self-motivational skills.

5. Organized, responsible, punctual, and self-disciplined.

6. Knowledge of hand tools, machine functions, and test gauges. Dexterity in using hand tools. 

7. Knowledge of all safety procedures and housekeeping practices. 

8. Ability to maintain highly confidential information. 

9. Ability to work beyond regular shift if necessary. 

10. Knowledge of operations and equipment and ability to make minor corrections when necessary. 

11. Basic math and reading skills.


Physical Requirements:

1. Close visual work on the computer for long periods of time.

2. Ability to read, write and communicate 100% of the time via phone, e-mail or in person to internal and external customers

3. Moves frequently about the facility walking, bending, stooping, climbing and reaching.

4. Able to remain in a stationary position standing or sitting 50% of the time.

5. Occasionally lifts/and or carries objects about the facility up to 35 lbs. or with the proper equipment.


Work Environment:

1. Exposed to shop elements such as noise, odors and fumes.

This is a salaried position with a standard schedule of Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM–4:00 PM.

40 hours per week

Occasional additional hours may be required on Fridays to support team operations during overtime.
