Iowa Interstate Railroad is hiring an Assistant Director of Revenue Assurance. This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive pricing and market analyses to ensure the generation of profitable freight revenue across both new and existing business segments. This role supports the development of monthly customer carload and revenue reports, prepares annual freight revenue and expense budgets, and maintains effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to support strategic revenue initiatives.

PAY RANGE (SALARIED-EXEMPT): $72,000 - $85,000 Annually
LOCATION: Cedar Rapids, IA - This position is onsite at headquarters
DEPARTMENT: Sales & Marketing
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Sr. Director of Market Strategy
Supervises: No direct reports
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct market analysis to develop profitable rate levels in coordination with Sales & Marketing.
- Develop annual revenue and expense budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare monthly reports with volume and revenue comparisons.
- Maintain Railroad Tariffs and CRM (SalesForce); update website as needed.
- Monitor changes in railroad industry policies and rate practices.
- Understand and monitor railroad switch charges and rate-making practices.
- Negotiate transportation contracts and interline pricing.
- Generate new freight revenue by presenting alternatives to customers.
- Collaborate with customer service and revenue accounting to resolve customer issues.
- Purchase promotional products and maintain inventory; manage customer calendar distribution.
- Develop processes to improve efficiency and consistency within Sales & Marketing.
- Represent IAIS professionally to customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- This position may include holidays, nights, and weekends as necessary.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field required. External candidates may qualify with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant sales and marketing experience. Internal candidates must have at least three (3) years of railroad experience or a comparable combination.
License and Certifications
Valid driver’s license and insurability under IAIS’s commercial auto policy.

- Experience with GE Business Analytics.

Physical Requirements:
Constant (67-100%) visual work, decision making, and communication. Frequent (34-66%) standing, sitting, and walking. Occasional (10-33%) travel, bending, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
Work Environment:
Office-based role with occasional travel for customer meetings or railroad-related events requiring overnight stays. Minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Compliance with IAIS and federal safety standards is required.
