Job Description:We are seeking a skilled and motivated Vehicle Dynamics Engineer to be responsible for performance optimization on Advanced Programs. This role involves supporting and/or leading multiple programs through the analysis and optimization of suspension, steering, and tires for:
Kinematics and compliance
Full vehicle ride
Handling
Braking and stopping distance
Key responsibilities include collaboration across Advanced Packaging, Chassis, and Powertrain teams to define architectural hardpoints for steering and suspension components necessary to achieve desired vehicle functionality. The role also involves overseeing the construction of Proof-of-Concept (POC) test properties to ensure build quality and timely execution.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Communicate vehicle dynamics performance status to all program teams
Establish full vehicle targets based on ride and drives, competitive benchmarking, customer feedback, and lessons learned
Create and maintain competitive, segment-specific vehicle dynamics targets
Collaborate with the Virtual Analysis team to develop a simulation plan, review results, and define next steps
Use a driving simulator to validate suspension architecture prior to POC mule development
Provide guidance to program management on optimal suspension architectures
Tune mule vehicles for ride and handling to meet functional objectives
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, or equivalent)
Experience with ride and handling, kinematics, and compliance
Preferred Experience:
Background in steering system, tires, or suspension component design
Experience in subjective evaluation for handling or a racing background
