The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of network technologies and their components. This role also implements network technologies, monitors network performance, interprets technical logs/documentation, and installs Cisco networking technologies.
Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy and maintain network infrastructures using Cisco routers and switches.
- Configure and optimize routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and switching features (VLANs, STP).
- Implement and manage Cisco Meraki wireless networks, including AP deployment, SSID configuration, and cloud dashboard integration.
- Design and maintain Cisco ISE in complex environments, ensuring alignment with security best practices.
- Manage Palo Alto firewalls, including rule creation, policy optimization, and Panorama for centralized control in multi-site setups.
- Configure and manage Cisco Umbrella for DNS-layer security and threat intelligence integration.
- Administer Proofpoint Email Security to detect and mitigate spam, phishing, and malware threats.
- Resolve connectivity issues involving Cisco devices, VXLAN overlays, firewall rules, DNS resolution, and email delivery.
- Perform routine maintenance including backups, patching, and capacity planning.
- Monitor network performance and security using integrated tools across Cisco, Palo Alto, Umbrella, and Proofpoint.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, security policies, and procedures.
- Work closely with IT teams and vendors on deployments and support.
- Respond to incidents promptly, conduct root cause analysis, and implement remediation strategies.
Education/Experience:
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field of study.
- 5+ years of experience in Cisco routing and switching technologies.
- Experience with firewalls and centralized management systems.
- Experience in wireless environments.
- Experience with network security best practices.

Skills and competencies
- Ability to administer related computer hardware, networking software, such as routers and switches, and network monitoring applications.
- Ability to integrate and troubleshoot networking technologies.
- Must know how to read logs, alerts, and other forms of information to analyze and assist with network communication issues.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex network and security issues.
- Must be a self-learner and have positive attitude towards problem resolution.
- Ability to work with diverse technologies in a team of highly technical individuals.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
