What will I do as Chaplain?
The chaplain provides a full ministry of pastoral care and spiritual support within the community’s two residential campuses in Nazareth. This includes supporting residents, their families and representatives in every level of care particularly when dealing with crises and health challenges. The chaplain provides the full range of sacraments and rituals congruent with the Moravian tradition. The chaplain also arranges for other clergy or lay persons from other denominations and faith traditions to minister to residents as appropriate.
What do I need in the role of Chaplain?
- Has a Graduate level degree and ordination by the Moravian Church in America or by another full-communion denominational partner;
- Has at least 5 years of pastoral or chaplaincy experience and available for call or service in a full-time capacity;
- Has completed 1 unit of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) or completed certification and competencies through the Association of Clinical Pastoral Chaplains;
- Experience dealing with clinical visitation and end-of-life spiritual counseling;
- Sensitivity to inclusion and engagement of others spiritual needs without bias;
- Demonstrated experience in working diverse environments as a leader and collaborator;
- Strong inter-personal and active listening skills;
- Ability to serve as a resource and facilitator for diversity and inclusion, spiritual wellness and grief counseling programs;
- Skilled in leading worship and public speaking related to organization and mission;
- Possesses professional maturity, positive attitude and physical stamina;
- Holds a valid PA driver’s license;
- Demonstrates a passion for service to older adults.
