GENERAL SUMMARY
The Purchasing Agent will perform the daily tasks required to facilitate all aspects of purchasing. The primary duty is to ensure the consistent flow of material and services required for daily operations and manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS
• Focus on buying and maintaining proper inventory levels to meet production and financial success.
• Create purchase orders via our ERP system, Kanban and material requisitions.
• Manage the complete purchase order cycle – from creation to delivery, verifying pricing, quantity accuracy, expected quality and timeliness of delivery.
• Obtain and evaluate quotes for materials and services.
• Compare and evaluate pricing and quality of materials and services to obtain favorable pricing and high quality.
• Coordinate and schedule delivery of materials and services and expedite when required.
• Develop and manage vendor relationships. Create and maintain vendor account information.
• Coordination of material returns.
• Perform other related supply chain and purchasing support duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Normally works in traditional office environment.
• Occasionally required to work within active manufacturing facility/ warehouse environment with moderate to loud noise levels and non-temperature regulated facility.
• 8-hour work days – 5 days per week (Monday - Friday) 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Occasional overtime as required by work load.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Constant computer work.
• Ability to lift boxes up to 40lbs. on occasion.
Requirements
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred.
• Five plus years’ experience in purchasing or supply chain in manufacturing preferred.
• Strong time management, organizational and multitasking skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office/Excel/Word.
• ERP experience required.
• Detail-oriented with a process-focused approach.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an analytical approach.
BONUS SKILLS
• Aptitude for learning new software and processes.
• Comfortable with viewing and working with reports.
• Experience in Google sheets.
• PowerPoint experience.
