Job Title: Resource Coordinator
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Resource Coordinator to join its Harlem Community Office – Supervised Release Program within Pretrial Services Team. The Resource Coordinator role involves working with justice system-involved who have been arrested multiple times and are difficult to serve. This role will be expected to engage new SRP participants including conducting intake follow up within 48 hours of participants' release from Manhattan Criminal Court Arraignments. This role’s priority will be to support the SRP participants in securing government benefits for clients that are eligible to apply. The Resource Coordinator will network with external providers, assist participants in navigating to other agencies, build meaningful relationships with participants, and assist SRP staff with obtaining resources for their participants. Fieldwork and networking within the larger NYC community is a component of the role. This role is primarily based in the Harlem Community Office. The ideal candidate will demonstrate cultural competency, a commitment to anti-racist practices, and the ability to engage participants with high needs effectively within the community. Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to work independently in community settings are also essential for success in this role.
CASES’ Supervised Release Program (SRP) annually diverts 7,500 people otherwise facing pretrial detention at Rikers Island to community-based supervision and support services. Program participants include youth and young adults, people with substance use disorders and mental illnesses, and individuals who are homeless. SRP participants have not been found guilty of a crime and are not mandated to engage in treatment or other services. This requires staff to tactfully deliver approaches to help participants tap into their intrinsic motivation to leverage their strengths and skills for meaningful improvements in life while fulfilling all court requirements.
Shift Hours: This position is full-time Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Salary: The salary for this role is $58,350 per year.
Location Address: 4 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.
Workplace Flexibility: Hybrid – Staff may work remotely one day per week after successfully demonstrating an understanding of their job responsibilities following the first 30 days of onboarding.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Assist clients in applying for entitlements, concrete needs and other social service support through various methods, including follow-up and reminder calls to ensure seamless recertification of benefits.
- Assess life areas related to housing and other critical, immediate needs by leveraging support services to remove barriers and assist participants with achieving independence and overall self-sufficiency.
- Provide individual counseling to participants around benefits-related issues and other challenges that may arise.
- Link participants to social support services, by evaluating eligibility, preferences, and needs, as well as accompanying participants to community-based services, as needed.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community providers and critical partners in the program’s network. This will require regular direct community engagement in the service area.
- Develop and maintain a robust resource directory of community-based organizations and maintain ongoing communication and follow up with referred participants to drive success.
- Consistently assess and collaborate with participants and program colleagues to determine any goals and/or areas of need that participants require support with
- Be capable of effectively engaging with high-risk and vulnerable participants who present with mental health symptoms, substance use concerns, complex trauma histories and other challenges.
- Work collaboratively with the team to identify community barriers to returning to court or maintaining agreed upon court mandated supervision schedule.
- Serve as liaison with pretrial court services team to assist with confirming referral made and linked to support mitigation and court advocacy efforts.
- Appropriately and punctually document all direct service activities into the ECM/Salesforce database.
- Engage in individual and group supervision to case conference high-risk participants and complex cases to provide best quality of care and services to participants.
- Any other duties as required by the Program Director and/or Direct Supervisor.
What We Are Looking For:
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of one-two years' experience working in human services, full time roles and/or internship experiences, with populations who experience substance use, mental health, complex trauma, and/or justice-system involvement.
- Extensive knowledge of community treatment, support services and resources tailored towards justice impacted individuals.
Preferred Skills:
- Associate or bachelor's degree.
- Conflict management and de-escalation skills.
- Fluency in Spanish.
