JOB SUMMARY
The Career Connected Learning (CCL) Systems Navigator will coordinate efforts to connect K-12 students with KCC Career Technical Education (CTE) programs and other career development opportunities. This position will participate in a network of professionals connecting K-12 schools, colleges, and employers and help design and implement systems that will drive improved opportunities for students across the state to find their passion, network with professionals, and successfully transition to a CTE program or career. The CCL Systems Navigator will work with community college faculty and staff, Southern Oregon and High Desert Education service districts, local middle and high schools, workforce development partners, and industry members to design equitable opportunities for Oregon students to participate in career connected learning. The position will work in collaboration with counterparts around Oregon to increase internships, improve access to CTE training programs (i.e. in Pre-and Registered Apprenticeships), and widen career exploration opportunities with the goal of reducing equity gaps.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Build relationships and connections with K-12 schools served by KCC’s early college programs that maintain, develop, and/or enhance Career Connected Learning (CCL) and Work-Based Learning (WBL) opportunities. This includes coordinating efforts with CTE programs, employers, colleges, local workforce development boards, and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) Hubs.
- Promote and elevate the role of postsecondary institutions in training, education, and workforce development through a variety of methods including, but not limited to: presentations, information sessions, and other marketing strategies to connect with stakeholders.
- Address capacity and equity gaps in regional CCL systems. Review system data, identify recommendations, and build nontraditional methods and partnerships to reach goals and address resource needs.
- Design and conduct presentations and facilitate meetings with stakeholders to create career related opportunities for students.
- Assist schools, districts, and education partners in developing education plans for students and the day-to-day management of associated grant activities and deliverables, including, but not limited to, scheduling, implementation, fieldwork, direct stakeholder engagement, and funder and regulatory reporting.
- Demonstrate and practice proactive advising and facilitate follow-up sessions and feedback to high school administrators, teachers, counselors, and staff.
- Provide resource facilitation and support for student admissions processes and registration into college classes as appropriate, connecting CCL and student opportunities.
- Regularly collaborate with key partners in the region to build and maintain a CCL Resource Hub.
- Ensure equitable, high quality WBL and CCL opportunities for students, regardless of the size or location of their secondary school, by supporting systems development.
- Provide professional learning and technical assistance to support best/promising practice that support the CCL domains.
- Work with KCC Business Office to track grant budget expenses, prepare and submit grant invoices, and report on activities and outcomes through accurate data and tracking systems.
- Align CCL Navigator activities with other programs that service historically underrepresented student populations. Assist the KCC CTE dean and Program Leads in developing CCL options in all departments.
- Represent the College at CCL regional and state meetings via webinar, virtual meetings, and/or in-person meetings.
- Attend CTE advisory committee meetings.
- Advise, train, and mentor students regarding skills necessary to gain successful employment and enrollment into Klamath Community College Programs.
- Work in collaboration with student services to coordinate efforts of seamless transitions for incoming students.
- Work with program leads assisting with maintaining advisory committee.
- Attend community outreach events.
- Assist with employer partnerships and program development.
- Assist with a student employment tracking mechanisms for reporting program successes.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- If assigned, this position may require administrative work on grant-funded program activities and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE
- Must be able to work independently to meet deadlines.
- Be able to travel within the community and throughout the state.
- Project management including planning, implementing, and supporting grant related projects and activities.
- Experience teaching or advising in a high school or college.
- Effective interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment with respect to priorities and deadlines.
- Experience carrying out complex tasks and building new programs with limited guidance and oversight. Ability to facilitate small, medium, and large network gatherings.
- Experience with software programs and database management systems including Microsoft Office Suite (i.e.
- SharePoint), email, and basic website navigation.
- Ability to engage and effectively communicate with community partners and other collaborators respectfully and with a high degree of cultural competence.
- Knowledge of career and readiness, CCL, and WBL efforts to support transitions across grade levels and into postsecondary opportunities.
- Proficiency in speaking and writing Spanish.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- May occasionally lift, carry, stoop, and bend (up to 20 lbs.).
- Frequently moving from stationary sitting positions to standing and walking.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree plus two years’ experiences where primary responsibilities included collaborating with multiple industry/organizations and managing data; or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform above duties.
