Position Title:              Facilities Maintenance Technician

Classification:             Non-Exempt

Reports To:                 Operations Manager – Safety & Facilities 

Location:                     Denver

Compensation:           $22.00 Hourly

The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports the overall functionality, cleanliness, and safety of Food Bank of the Rockies’ facilities. This role focuses on coordinating and completing routine maintenance requests, monitoring the maintenance ticketing system, and assisting with building, janitorial, and grounds tasks. The Technician also provides support for warehouse operations by performing basic upkeep on equipment under the guidance of senior staff. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals with general maintenance or trade experience who are eager to grow into more advanced responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, track, and complete work orders through the maintenance ticketing system in a timely manner
  • Perform routine building maintenance including lighting, fixtures, doors, shelving, and minor repairs
  • Support janitorial duties to ensure facility cleanliness and readiness
  • Assist with exterior grounds upkeep, including seasonal tasks such as snow removal, landscaping support, or debris removal
  • Monitor building systems performance and urgently alert other staff or vendors to any concerns as needed
  • Work with external vendors to schedule, support, and verify completion of service and repair work; maintain positive vendor relationships
  • Provide excellent customer service to staff and volunteers by responding promptly to facility and maintenance needs
  • Provide basic support for equipment maintenance or repairs under the direction of senior technicians
  • Safely operate powered industrial trucks (PITs) as required; maintain accurate PIT documentation
  • Assist with waste and recycling handling in coordination with facility processes
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE); promptly report hazards or facility concerns
  • Collaborate with team members across facilities, safety, and operations to support organizational goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned to maintain the facility’s safe and efficient operation

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Basic familiarity with technical trades such as plumbing, electrical, construction, or landscaping preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple work requests through a ticketing system
  • Ability to work independently, follow through on assignments, and escalate issues when needed
  • Commitment to workplace safety and consistent use of PPE
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with staff, volunteers, and vendors
  • Dependability, flexibility, and willingness to take on varied tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Basic computer skills, including email and online reporting tools

  • This position operates primarily in a warehouse setting and may involve exposure to hot or cold temperatures, dust, loud noise, vibration, and uneven surfaces
  • Regular physical activity including walking, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working with hands overhead or at ground level
  • Requires use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, and occasional operation of forklifts or other warehouse equipment
  • Full manual dexterity required, including the ability to grip, reach, lift, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive motions
  • May occasionally work outdoors or in tight spaces to access facility systems or equipment
  • Must follow all safety policies and wear appropriate PPE as required
  • Uses heavy equipment on a regular basis including stand-up/sit-down forklift trucks, walk-behind and end-rider pallet jacks.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1 - 2 years of experiences in maintenance, custodial, or related work strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and machinery
  • Experience working in a warehouse, distribution center, or industrial setting preferred
  • Familiarity with PITs, dock equipment, or similar machinery
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift or willingness to be trained and certified

 

Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, typically working approximately 40 hours per week. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Occasional evening or Saturday work may be required, and is eligible for overtime based on business needs.

 


Compensation:

$22.00 hourly
