Position Summary:

Custodians for Blue Solutions work at IRS facilities under a federal contract through the AbilityOne Program and are responsible for the general upkeep of buildings. They are key members of the custodial team who work collaboratively with Custodial Team Leads to provide quality custodial services to our clients. Please note that 75% of the labor hours for our contracts are reserved for individuals with documented significant disabilities or medical conditions. These programs allow people who have significant disabilities an opportunity to gain meaningful employment and lead more independent lives We strongly encourage individuals with documented disabilities to apply.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly clean restrooms including toilets, sinks, floors, urinals, mirrors, and fixtures using appropriate tools and disinfectant solutions.
  • Spot-clean doors, partitions, walls, windows, and all horizontal surfaces to maintain a sanitary and presentable environment.
  • Replenish paper products and remove trash, disposing of waste in designated areas.
  • For carpeted areas: vacuum daily and shampoo per contract specifications. 
  • For hard surfaces: sweep and mop daily; strip, wax, and buff as outlined in the contract.
  • Follow all safety protocols, standards, and regulatory guidelines without exception.
  • Safely and efficiently mix cleaning chemicals according to established procedures.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and take pride in representing the organization with professionalism and respect.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in all decisions impacting staff, service recipients, and business operations.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required meetings.
  • Follow assigned work schedules consistently and reliably.
  • Demonstrate integrity and full compliance with the Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Complete all mandatory annual training requirements for this role.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to service recipients, supervisors, and Custodial Team Leads at designated contract locations.

 Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • One to three months previous cleaning or related approved custodial training program may substitute for experience.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check (subject to requirements of assigned site client).
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and have mobility to move between offices and/or building locations.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • One year of previous custodial experience in a federal contract or commercial cleaning site.
  • Ability to operate a variety of janitorial equipment.
